Boyd Valley Benefice

Boyd Valley Benefice Boyd Valley Benefice consists of five rural C of E churches in South Glos between Bath and Bristol. All are welcome to attend.

Our churches include, St Thomas a Becket - Pucklechurch, St James - Abson, St Bartholomew's - Wick, Holy Trinity - Doynton and St Peter's - Dyrham. St Thomas a Becket is a C of E church situated in countryside between Bath and Bristol, just south of the M4 in South Gloucestershire. We run regular family communion services at 10 am on Sundays and currently offer Morning Prayer one Sunday a month. O

ur vicar, Rev Stuart Young, recently retired and we are now awaiting new leadership in a period of interregnum. All services still operate and we continue to welcome everyone who wishes to worship with us. We are pleased to advise that we operate safeguarding procedures with all children and vulnerable persons.

There's a joint Benefice service at Doynton church tomorrow. We hope you can make it!

Hi Boyd Valley residents,
Have you got some free time? Would you like to join a country and town walk for all or part of it? Find out more and sign up so the organisers can cater! Ramble, talk if you would like to, stop off in churches and find some peace along the way.

🌱 Small seeds can bring new life.

As part of the Diocesan Pilgrimage, we’ll be doing something very simple, and very hopeful.

From 15–23 May 2026, as we walk parish to parish across the diocese, we’ll be sowing seeds along the way, supporting local biodiversity and caring for the land we pass through 🌿
This pilgrimage is about prayer rooted in place; walking gently, noticing creation, and making small, tangible acts of hope for our local environment.

If caring for creation matters to you, you’re warmly invited to be part of the journey.

The Diocese of Bristol is organising a pilgrimage and it passes through our Boyd Valley Benefice with halts at St Peter's in Dyrham and St Thomas a Becket in Pucklechurch, finishing at St James in Mangotsfield on day 6.

You can follow the link and sign up to part or all of the route! Get those steps in and enjoy the peace of the countryside and the buzz of local Bristol suburbs. Hear stories from the past, discover local saints and meet new people. Touch base with God as humans have done for centuries...

Hello Pucklechurch!

The Scarecrow Competition enter by date is fast approaching. If you'd like to create a scarecrow for this year's trail, please send you details to Gill below. She will then start creating the map for the weekend. This takes some time to do, hence the cut off date for entries being 12th April.

Please tell her:

The name of your scarecrow character
Where your scarecrow will be put on May 3rd and 4th (Don't forget, not near your garage if you live on the estate - it should be in your garden where people can see it:))
A clue to help people guess the name of your scarecrow
An adult's name and contact details so we can notify you if you win the competition
Have fun everyone.
