We’ve been super busy this week.. We did some more work with our paper clay art, and everyone is getting so creative with it..! Then on Wednesday, the group finally finished their lasagne mosaic owls..! They have worked so hard on these over the last few weeks painting the pasta, breaking it up, and pieceing it all together.. The patience they’ve shown has been amazing.. and the finished owls look absolutely brilliant..! Proper little masterpieces..! Huge well done to everyone this week, you should all be so proud of yourselves..!

Sandra and I spent last week closed for maintenance, getting our hands dirty painting all the windows, doors, and refreshing the yellow safety line on the ramp.. A massive thank you to Geoff and Rudy for coming in on Monday to help us prep the windows..! 🙌
Monday was our "bring your own stuff" day.. Rudy actually brought along a cookie jar for me to decoupage, and then gifted it to The Studio when it was finished.. Thank you, Rudy..! On Tuesday, I whipped up some homemade paper clay, and we kicked off our new bottle art projects..
Today was an absolute full house.! We kept working on our lasagne mosaic owls, while a few people branched off to make some brilliant lasagne mosaic coasters.. And because we clearly don't know how to sit still, we even managed to paint an entire interior wall somewhere in between the chaos.! 🤣
Safe to say we were fuelled entirely by tea and creative energy this week..!

⚠️ Important Travel Update: Upcoming Whittlesey Roadworks ⚠️

Please be aware of some major planned roadworks starting next week that will severely impact travel between Peterborough and Whittlesey..
From Monday 24th August, the B1040 northbound out of Whittlesey will be completely closed for two weeks.. At the same time, from Tuesday 25th August, temporary traffic lights on the A605 at Kings Delph will cut road capacity by over half.. Because both main routes will be heavily restricted, both myself and Sandra expect to face massive traffic delays commuting in, as neither of us live locally.. There is a strong possibility that The Studio may have to open slightly later than usual on certain mornings while we navigate the gridlock.. If you are planning to drop in and join us for a session over the next two weeks, While most of you come from right here in Whittlesey, if you are one of our friends who travels in from Peterborough by bus, please prepare for major delays on the routes and leave plenty of extra time.. We’ve had so much fun over the last couple of weeks.. and I am incredibly proud of what everyone has achieved.! First up.. our Tuesday group finished their beautiful pottery pieces.! Look at the wonderful details on this hand painted bowl and our absolutely adorable little clay seal friend.. 🦭 They turned out so beautifully.! For our Wednesday lovelies, I decided it was time to push them to their absolute creative limits with a challenging multi week project.!The concentration in the room was immense as they are making stunning mosaic owls out of.. painted lasagne sheets.! 😲 The hard work is completely paying off..! Just look at the process.. Painting raw pasta sheets with beautiful, intricate patterns.. Cutting out owl base shapes from thick cardboard.. Meticulously breaking the pasta into shards to glue down mosaic-style.. Every single person is putting so much focus and effort into their design.. They will be true masterpieces..To be continued.!

🎨 More than just art's and crafts at The Studio..! ☕✨This week.. our Tuesday group decided to skip the crafts and spend the session just chatting.. catching up.. and laughing together.. and that is absolutely okay with us.! As part of the Salvation Army.. our main mission at The Studio is your well-being.. Whether you want to create something or simply need a safe and friendly space to talk.. our doors are always open.! Meanwhile, our Wednesday group have been incredibly busy.! A massive well done for completing your beautiful art journals today..! This is a lengthy one..!

We have had the most uplifting week here at The Studio.. full of creativity.. friendship.. and community spirit..!

We kicked off the week with our fantastic men's group..! It was great to gather in a relaxed environment for a good cuppa.. chat and catching up with familiar faces..

Next up.. we got stuck into some clay modeling.. It was hands down the funniest thing ever..! The room was absolutely filled with laughter.. smiles, and plenty of delicious cake...(Thank you Sharon Glasper Cook ) It was so wonderful to see everyone coming together..

Today our lovely Wednesday group gathered together to continue working on our beautiful art journals.. It was a positive and genuinely a lovely session to round off the week...!

With another period of hot weather expected next week.. we will remain open..! However, if you are planning to travel by bus or walk to us.. we kindly ask that you consider the conditions before setting out.. as well as how warm it may be by the end of your time with us..!
To help keep everyone comfortable.. we will be offering simpler crafts during this time.. You are also very welcome to bring along your own craft activities.! Our usual programme will be paused.. just as it was during the previous heatwave..!
