Whitstable United Reformed Church

Whitstable United Reformed Church Based in the heart of Whitstable, we are a friendly, community-based Church which relates the Christ We welcome everyone who wanders through our door.

Whoever you are, wherever you are in you spiritual life, we invite you to bring your whole self to church! Based in the heart of Whitstable, we are a friendly, community-based Church which relates the Christian faith to the world today. Having had a presence in the city for more than 200 years, we serve the local community and visitors alike through an approach that is reformed and continuing to r

eform. We are an enthusiastic and caring Church open and welcome to everyone. The ethos of our worship and community life is shaped by the Reformed tradition (a blend of the best of the Congregational, Presbyterian and Churches of Christ traditions), but we are a mishmash of people from all sorts of church upbringings (or not!). We strive to create a space for people to explore their spiritual lives through a variety of practices including, but not limited to: traditional church services, tai chi classes, small group conversations (like our Tuesday coffee mornings and Friday fun groups), monthly community lunches, home bible study groups, church walking group, community gardening and leadership opportunities. We warmly welcome you to come visit our church for Sunday worship or any of our other gatherings throughout the week! If you have any questions about what your visit may look like or have anything specific you would like to ask check out our website (www.whitstable.org.uk) or contact us ([email protected])! We look forward to seeing you soon!

A more generous Lent:
Lent is often framed around what we give up. But what if it’s also about what we give towards?
This could be about making space rather than striving; being slower to speak, quicker to listen, and more honest about our limits. It might mean offering patience where we usually rush, kindness where we usually protect ourselves, and importantly attention to God in the ordinary, unremarkable parts of the day.
Generosity doesn’t have to be dramatic. Sometimes it’s simply choosing presence over pressure, grace over productivity, and trust over control.

Sundays often feel like an extension of Saturday - a spillover from the week filled with work, daily business, and just getting through. Taking back Sunday's isn't just about relaxing, it is about living differently, choosing a rhythm that reflects the life of Jesus, not the constant strain of the world. Matthew 11:28-30

Prayer, Reflection & Support Friday 21st October 2022, 3-7pm
Our hearts go out to those suffering from birth injuries and deaths in East Kent.

The church will be open as a space for peaceful reflection, prayer, and support especially for the families immediately affected by these events and also for our wider community, which carries this trauma too.

A separate space will be set up for children.

If you need to speak with someone for urgent support please contact Martin Belgrove at (01227) 276326 or [email protected]
