We are now in the season of Creationtide (1st September to 4th October) and St Mary's is focusing in the environment in all of its services. Keep a look out for special services as the month moves on. Our planned services and events are on the posters attached and begin with Church in the pub in the The Kittiwake this evening followed by our Arts and Eco Fair on Saturday 5th September from 10.00am.

This morning our thoughts and prayers were centred around the devastating disaster that has taken place in Nepal.
We pray for all those affected and all the emergency workers being mobilised.
Please see previous post for prayers, and give whatever support you can to those agencies working on the ground.

As the death toll rises and so many are still missing in Nepal. We watch on feeling helpless. If you would like to drop into church, to find a quiet place to pray and think and maybe light a candle, St Mary’s will be open until 1900 tonight.

Prayers for the 1000 plus who are missing in Nepal and prayers for world leaders that they take climate change seriously.

CHURCH WILL BE OPEN FOR QUIET PRAYER, REFLECTION AND LIGHTING OF CANDLES FROM 5.00 to7.00pm TODAY, THURSDAY 27th.

God of compassion,
hear our prayers for those who are affected by storms and flooding:
strengthen them in their hour of need, and
grant them courage to face the future,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Heavenly Father,
You have taught us, through your servant St Francis,
That all creation is your handiwork.
Grant us your grace that we may
Exercise wise stewardship of this Earth;
Tread lightly upon it;
And cherish its resources;
That our children may enjoy its riches, throughout all generations,
And your name be glorified through all that you have made.
Amen.

Have you ever wondered what Holy Communion is all about? At our 10.00am service on Sunday 23rd August we will be explaining through the sermon and Holy Communion what it means. This is the third session of four looking at the shape of a typical Church of England service. All are welcome to join us.
