EXTRACT FROM THE NEWSLETTER FOR SUNDAY 7 JUNE 2026

Weekly Collection: We received £1,378.120 last week in the baskets, through the letter box and standing orders. Thank you.

Thank you from Fr Philip! It's been almost a month since my arrival at St Begh's, and I wanted to thank you all for making me so welcome and for all your kindnesses. This has meant a great deal to me, and I am beginning to feel more settled in the life of the parish. Please don't forget to keep on reminding me of your name as so much has been happening that I haven't been able to take in everyone's names, and this is going to take some time.

Confessions: Available every week on Saturday mornings at Quay Street after the morning Mass (10.45-11.30am), and on Saturday afternoons at St Begh's before the Vigil Mass (4.15-4.40pm), and at any other time by appointment. Silent Prayer of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will also take place on Saturday mornings at Quay Steet and on Wednesday evenings from 6pm in St Begh's. St Begh’s church is open all day every day (apart from Mondays) for quiet prayer.

Bishop's Certificate in Catechesis 2026-28: A two-year course to deepen your understanding of the Catholic faith, perfect for teachers, catechists and those who want to grow in their faith. The course is online, but involves occasional meetings in Lancaster. Speak to Fr Philip for more details or email [email protected]

Youth Pilgrimage to Medjugorje: 30th July – 6th August with Youth 2000, for those who are 18-30 years of age, price £395.00. For further information please email www.youth2000.org

APF/Mill Hill: Time, once again, to empty the Red Boxes. For the past 90 years the red box has reminded us all of our shared responsibility through baptism, to make sure our Blessed Lord is known throughout the world. By our generosity and prayers we fulfill this important obligation. Never doubt the vital part this plays in promoting God's love for humanity.
Michael Doyle, Hon. Sec. Sec/Treasurer for St.Begh's parish

Our vision is that through the power of the Holy Spirit, Youth 2000 will raise up a new generation of saints to evangelise the nations.
