‘Kindness is choosing to ask: How do I reflect Jesus?’

Last week, officers, members and friends from across the UK and Ireland Territory gathered for Together 26 - a gathered event that provided opportunity to celebrate and reflect on who God has called us to be as a church.

During the weekend, Commissioner Paul Main, one of the leaders of The Salvation Army in the UK and Ireland Territory, shared a message on what it looks like to be kind, hopeful and thankful people.
‘Kindness is one of the clearest signs that Jesus is shaping our hearts. It’s not simply about good manners that our parents or grandparents showed us,’ shared Commissioner Paul.

‘Kindness is not weakness. Kindness is strength under the control of love. It is choosing not to return sharpness with sharpness. It’s choosing to see the person, rather than the problem. It’s choosing to ask: “How do I reflect Jesus?”’

How will you reflect true kindness today? 🙏

We’re getting ready to cheer on this group of cadets who will be ordained and commissioned as Salvation Army officers today. Let’s pray for them as they make a commitment to serve God as Christian leaders within our church and charity.

The Salvation Army is a church and Salvation Army officers are ordained and commissioned ministers. They promise to love and serve God with their whole lives, and to love and serve others too.

Officers provide spiritual care, lead Salvation Army churches, offer practical support to people in their communities and much more! As a lifelong commitment, officership requires deep thought and prayer.

Whether it's leading Christian worship, offering a listening ear, supporting people in crisis, or helping communities thrive, Salvation Army officers are dedicated to sharing God's love through both faith and action.
