We are looking forward to catching up with everyone.

This Sunday 21st we have our Carols by Candlelight service starting at 6.30 pm you are very welcome even if you don’t regularly attend Church.
After the service we are serving mulled wine and mince pies.

A lovely reminder that we don’t have to live up to the expectations of others xx

A close friend of mine asked last week if she could do a bible reading at our church on Christmas Day.

Of course you can, but why? You don’t go to church here.

So she could tell her mother she had to be at church at 10am. So she couldn’t stay over Christmas Eve and “help”.

I told her she absolutely had to do a bible reading and that we wouldn’t be able to have the service without her. In fact, if she didn’t do it, I would just cancel Christmas. Forever.

Did you know you don’t have to spend Christmas with your family?

I’m just saying. That’s all.

If your family of origin is tricky, you don’t have to be with them. I know, it sounds like sacrilege. Imagine not forcing yourself to spend time with people who are difficult for you. While they are drinking.

Or you can pop in, stay for an hour and leave.

Or you can arrange an evening barbecue with friends you absolutely must go to. Because it is at your house.

Or you can go help the Salvation Army serve lunch.

Or you can stay home and watch the BBC 1995 Pride and Prejudice. Again. By yourself in the quiet.

Christmas is the day we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. How you do that is up to you. You can decide. You can choose.

It’s Jesus’ birthday and he really cares about you. So why would he want you to stress and put yourself in situations that aren’t healthy for you?

Where is his peace in that?

And if you need to do a bible reading at my church on Christmas Day, I’ll find room for you.
