The Anglican Religious Community, The Order of the Holy Paraclete, was founded in Whitby by Margaret Cope who became the Order's first Prioress. The Order was founded to continue St Hilda's School, which had previously been running under the guidance of the Community of St Peter at Horbury. The School moved to Sneaton Castle, Whitby, in January 1915, and the Order grew in number and in work, both

in the UK and overseas. The Order has worked in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Swaziland and Scotland. It currently has two houses in Ghana, and three houses in England (including the Mother House of St Hilda's Priory at Sneaton Castle). St Hilda's School closed in 1997, and since then the Order has continued its tradition of education by taking on parish work and leading retreats. Sneaton Castle and the original Priory buildings were sold in 2020, and are now a venue for weddings and other functions. The sisters live in a new St Hilda’s Priory in the grounds of Sneaton Castle, sharing the campus with the hospitality venue, and continuing to offer retreats and hospitality to guests.

We’ve got two retreats coming up. Sorry about the late posting. I thought my Instagram posts were being shared automatically to this page.
The retreats look like being really good. The Autumn retreat is a chance to explore the season in art and creative writing.
The Godly Play retreat is a weekend to explore Christian stories through another sort of lens.
