St Oswalds Pastoral Centre

St Oswalds Pastoral Centre St Oswald's Pastoral Centre is a retreat centre run by Sisters from the Order of the Holy Paraclete.

St Oswald's Pastoral Centre is a small complex of buildings set in the beautiful surroundings of the North Yorkshire Moors, between the villages of Sleights and Aislaby, near Whitby. We run set retreat programmes throughout the year, details of which are available at http://www.stoswaldspastoralcentre.org.uk/site/calendar+of+events

We also welcome Church groups and individuals for Retreats, Away

Days, Away Weekends, Quiet Days and time in the Yorkshire countryside outside of the set programmes. Our accomodation is fully catered, but we do have some self-catering accomodation available for individuals. For full details on the available accomodation, please see http://www.stoswaldspastoralcentre.org.uk/site/accommodation

Dear All - So so far I have helped spring clean the kitchen, cleared the greenhouse of the tomato plants, done some weeding and pruning around the chapel and now I am clearing the moss and leaves around the property (could take me a while!) and all in-between working 2 night shifts a week and I have/am loving helping out whenever I can to get the place ready to open to guests in November. But most of all I have loved the love, welcome and fellowship/friendship that I have received from Jackie, Paul plus Michlya and Simon (the new St Oswalds community) since the sisters left here on Oct 1st. I have also enjoyed great hospitality around the dining table, when I have been welcomed in with open arms to share the food, laughter and fun of the new community. The worship in the chapel has been wonderful, a time of offering prayers for those we know personally in need of prayer and for this many world’s needs at the moment. Jackie, Paul and Michlya have made Cuthbert lodge into a wonderful home for me for the next six months. This is still a small house with a VERY BIG HEART. Completing the NVQ Care Assistant qualification has been delayed a bit, due to the COVID restrictions but I am confident that I will eventually get there. Meanwhile I am delighted that I can still work in the care sector and look after others whilst working towards a qualification in this area. I am working the next two nights. This evening I pray for all those who look after others and for all students. Wishing you a very peaceful Holy night SG xx

JE and I are writing something for our newsletter about St Os. I was hoping that all our fb friends would give us a word that would sum up their times at St Os with the sisters. With many thanks

It has been great seeing Jackie, Paul and Michyla begin their new adventure here at St Oswalds, and for me to be able to join them in their daily rhythm of prayer. They now have a new page so you can keep up to date with them there - St Oswald's Community

They also have a website - www.stoswalds.community

Please do pray for this new and exciting venture, for Paul & Jackie as they settle into their new roles and for Michyla who will join them full time in December.

We've moved and spent one night in our new abode. Both shell shocked and very tired. It will be weeks before we manage to get all this stuff under control. But, rest assured, every need for the pu***es has been met.. Mini is very settled.

HOME SWEET HOME. No matter how bad things get we always come out of the other side of it, a little older and wiser of the things we learnt due in them bad times of our lives. I am working tonight but tomorrow evening I will be raising a toast in my new home to whatever the next stage of my FAITH journey brings. JE and Helen expect the invite to afternoon tea soon. May the Lord grant you ALL a very peaceful night. It is Jackie’s birthday today - may she be surrounded by the VIRTUE love of family and friends this evening and know how much she is loved.

Meanwhile back at St Oswalds Jackie and Paul have made me so welcome and turned Cuthbert Lodge into a real home for me. There will be a new St Oswalds community page set-up in a few days time but for now Jackie and Paul send much love and prayers to everyone and look forward to welcoming everybody. Sleep well JE and Helen in your new home. Glad to see Lord Charles has found his rightful place! Praying Princess Mini will settle in just as well. SG xx
