Latest news from Bamford Chapel & Norden URC or, in other words, the latest from Steve & Sheila Lawley.
When Steve sends me their Magazine I always glance through it and without fail I find something interesting. This time I only got as far as Page 2 and there in their Minister’s Message was the headline,
“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tyre.”

Read the article. It is posted on the Notice Board.

Charity Collections this year: As we mentioned previously we would like everyone to give some thought to which charities we would like to support during 2026-27. These can be local, such as St. Catherine’s Hospice or one of the many International Charities such as Water Aid, British Heart Foundation or Medecins Sans Frontieres. – there are so many.
Of course we won’t forget our support for our very ‘own’ Myriame.
Be prepared to decide at our AGM in May
I feel that it would be helpful if we could take a little time to consider which charities each of us would like to support. So, I would be grateful if each of us could list a few Charities that you would like us to support.
Enter “E” in the Box for support every year or “R” on a Rotational basis.

Lent is a significant season in the year for Christians – a time of solemnity and self-reflection
Traditionally it was a time of fasting. Nowadays people might give up a luxury food – such as chocolate.!
It lasts for just over six weeks leading up to Easter and like Easter, Lent falls on different dates each year. This year Easter Sunday falls on 5th.April.
There was international agreement that there should be a season of prayer and seeking forgiveness lasting 40 days – plus Sundays – leading up to Easter Sunday. The significance of the time period was that immediately before he began his years of travelling and teaching, Jesus spent 40 days in the desert reflecting on the future of his life.
Palm Sunday marks the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Lent ends with Easter Sunday – the day Christians celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.

Following on from last week’s email we now have details of Revd Denise Megson’s funeral.
It will be on Wednesday 25th March at 12noon at Pickering Methodist Church. It will also be streamed live, and you can join online by clicking on this link. www.funeralstreaming.co.uk/watch/59211.
The Service will remain on this link for some months.
