Weymouth Street Pastors

Weymouth Street Pastors Weymouth Street Pastors are a familiar sight in the Weymouth night time scene. Volunteers from local churches, patrolling the streets from 10pm to 4am

Caring - Listening - Helping

We organise patrols of Christian volunteers on the streets of Weymouth town centre late at night on Fridays and Saturdays. A reassuring presence, able to care for people in a number of ways, working in partnership with door staff, police, paramedics, Safe Space and CCTV. We are well known for looking after those who are vulnerable through too much drink and we often d

efuse violent situations as we chat and give out lollies, flips flops and water. We started patrols in June 2008 and are out currently, whatever the weather on Friday and Saturday nights.

👫 Bank Holiday Weekend is here!

🧢 We are pleased to let you know that we will have teams out tonight and Saturday night from 10.45pm working in partnership with Safe Space.

👀 We are expecting it to be busy so please help us to help you. Our top five tips are:-

🖐🏻 STAY TOGETHER - keep an eye out especially for anyone out with you who may be feeling upset or unwell.

🖐🏻 PROTECT YOUR DRINKS - at all times look out for each others drinks, when going to the toilet or dancing.

🖐🏻DESIGNATED MEETING PLACE - before your evening starts prepare a designated meeting place and a time.

🖐🏻DRINKS FROM STRANGERS - do not accept a drink, v**e or cigarette from someone you don’t know, especially if you do not see the drink being poured.

🖐🏻FEELING UNWELL - if you or a friend feels unwell stay with them. If you think you/they’ve been spiked let the bar of door staff know.

❗️IMPORTANT - should your Friday or Saturday night not go to plan then Street Pastors are there to support you. You can also walk into Safe Space in St Mary’s Church (entrance via Maiden Street).

👣 Street Pastors can be reached by phoning 07513 280240, or please ask any of the door staff to radio us and we will come to you.

🤔 Have you planned how you are getting home ahead of the Bank Holiday Weekend ??

💃 We want you to stay safe and enjoy your evening. Here are our Street Pastor safety tips:-

👣 If at all possible, do not walk home alone at the end of a night out - walk as a group or with friends.

👣 use a registered taxi, and ensure your mobile has plenty of battery to make payment.

👣 If you do have to walk home, please don’t take short cuts - through dark alleys, across fields or unlit areas.

👣 please do not accept a lift from someone you do not know.

👣 be cautious of wearing earphones - you can’t hear people or vehicles approaching or hear what is going on in your immediate surroundings.

😵 If you do find yourself walking home alone during the bank holiday weekend evening then please remember, you can contact Strut Safe who will stay on the phone line with you until you reach safety.

🧢 We are always happy to accompany you to a bus stop or taxi rank on a Friday or Saturday night, please ask a member of the door team to radio us, and we will come to meet you or you can reach us on 07513 280240.
