🌒 Eclipse tonight! No eclipse glasses? You can still enjoy it safely! 🌞

Please do not look directly at the Sun and don’t use ordinary sunglasses, phone cameras, CDs, smoked glass or homemade filters.

Instead, try one of these:

• Pinhole projector
Make a tiny hole in a piece of card, stand with your back to the Sun and project the image onto another pale card or the ground.

• The colander trick! 😆
Hold a colander up with your back to the Sun and look at the shadows it makes. Every little hole should project a tiny image of the eclipsed Sun.

• Look under a leafy tree 🌳
The gaps between the leaves act as hundreds of natural pinhole cameras. Look at the ground and you may see lots of little crescent Suns.

• Make a cereal-box eclipse viewer
A cardboard box, foil, white paper and a pinhole can make a simple enclosed projector.

• Watch the changing light
Even without looking at the Sun, notice how the daylight changes, shadows sharpen and the temperature may dip slightly around maximum eclipse.

• Take photographs of the projections 📸
Photograph the crescents on the ground, card or wall rather than pointing your camera straight at the Sun.

Here in Weymouth it begins at around 6:18pm, reaches maximum eclipse at about 7:15pm, and finishes just after 8:08pm.
