Writing has been the easy part! Promoting has been far more difficult than I expected. So please share this post, or pass on by word of mouth or whatever. I'm also happy to give talks, so if you know of any organisation or society who would be interested, please let me know. No charge, just a few more sales for Norwood, I hope.

Here's a brief summary of the forthcoming book ...

Jeremy cannot walk or talk, so in 2016, I took the decision to do that for him and walk the Pyrenees mountain range. Five hundred and forty miles and the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest five times would be my sign of gratitude to his carers. At the same time, I would fulfil a promise to “walk the whole road” for my son. No matter that I had a debilitating fear of heights, lacked a sense of direction, and had never walked further than my local park. I was just the instrument, whatever happened to me or what I felt did not matter. I would lay my life on the line for his carers, just as they did for him every day of their lives.

I did not realise how closely the journey would mirror the one that Jeremy had taken us on.

On June 18th, we will be participating in the Weybridge Arts Festival. Please come along to North West Surrey Synagogue, Horvath Close, in Weybridge at 12:30 and listen to our kids sing a medley of traditional Jewish songs, backed up by our very own band, the "Jammin' Jews". The JJs will also be playing a set immediately after the kids have finished entertaining us. Then, at 6pm, the AmDram group will be performing "The Workroom" play on stage.

Pride Shabbat. We celebrated the wonderful diversity of our community last Shabbat with music, friendship, prayer and food. Pride is not only about full inclusion and the beauty of diversity, it is also a reminder to us all that the opportunity to be a full member of community is still not available to everyone. Until this day we will continue to teach, campaign and work together to build a world in which we are all fully free to love and be who we are without discrimination and fear.

With huge thanks to all the synagogue teams and especially the Green Team, NWSS was awarded the Eco Synagogue Bronze Award this evening at Kew Gardens. We are proud to be living our Jewish values ensuring that NWSS as a community plays it part to tackle the climate crisis.
