Good evening children

Today we learn Mark 12: 38-44

In this passage we heard Jesus pointed out to the Disciples those who loved to walk around showing off and like being respected for their greatness. This included those who were rich and put such a large sum of offerings.

He then pointed out to his disciples the offering of a poor widow, whose offering, compared those abundance of offerings, was pleasing and acceptable to God.

How could this be?
Surely, the favour should go to those who gave quite a big offerings as it would benefited the temple.
Can you imagine if we have a lot of people gives big offerings in our church? It would save a lot of problems right?! We probably would be able to do a lot of stuff in the church because then we wouldn't be worry about the finances.

But here, God actually honoring the little gift that the widow gave because Jesus told the disciples that she gave everything that she had to live on as an offering to God.

Why do you think Jesus wanted the disciples to learn the Widow's act of offering?
Because the Widow showed us:

- Her loved for God
- how she honoured God by putting Him first
- her selflessness, hope and faith in God

Remember last week Jesus reminded us about loving God with all of our heart, our soul, our mind, our strength? Well, this was what the Widow showed, her action of giving came from her deep love for God, and she wanted to honour God by putting Him first and giving her all selflessly.
In doing so, she also showed her deep hope and faith in God. She knew by giving all she had for living, she might be in trouble to have enough for living; the only thing that would propel her in doing so was her hope and faith in God, that her life is in His hands alone.

So children, remember that it's not about what you can give or how much you can give, or how good or great you are; it's about your heart. God sees your hearts and minds.
He wants us that whatever we bring to Him, do for Him, offer to Him... they come from our deep love for Him, so those offerings bring honour to Him.
He also wants us to continue to have hope and faith in Him that no matter what our circumstances that might effect our offering, if we give it all with the right heart, God can use them for His glory and turn them into blessings.

May the worship today 'A Gift to You' be our prayer for today.

Have a good week ahead all.

Healing at church

Good morning children.

Today we learn Mark 10: 35-45

In the previous verses, we read that Jesus and the Disciples approached Jerusalem; and the disciples were astonished. Perhaps they were astonished with the grandeur of the temple of Jerusalem.
So Jesus pulled them aside and told them about what was going to happen to Him.

However, in today's verses we learnt that both James and John approached Jesus and asked him for two privilege seats at Jesus' right and left.
It seemed that they missed the information that Jesus told them about the sufferings and death He would encounter but perhaps only thought of the glory that they thought Jesus would possessed in the Kingdom of God.

Jesus reminded them that what he would need to go through would not be easy, so would they be ready to drink the cup that he drank and be baptised with baptism that he was baptised with.
Then He continued to tell them that even if they were ready, it was not His place to grant because they were for those they had been prepared.

Then Jesus told them that in the world to be a ruler or leader, you had to be the greatest of all. But this was not the case with God. In fact those who wants to be the greatest should be a servant and served others. Just like the Son of Man came to serve others.

So children, remember what's a great leader is all about in God's eyes: those who loves others, those who helps others, those who serve others, and those who puts the greater good for many.
And when you put these things into practice in your lives, God is raising you up to be leaders in your generations.

So starting this week, can you take a challenge of doing something good for others and someone to pray for each week?
There are some templates in the children works that you can use to note them down.

And we can use the song today as our prayer to ask Jesus to mould our hearts so that we can be a servant for His purpose.

Have a good Sunday and the coming week.

Good morning children

Today we learn Mark 10: 17-31

A rich successful young man approached Jesus because he wanted to know how he could have eternal life.
When he approached Jesus he must has thought it would be easy, or he thought that Jesus would have told him that since he has been good in following the laws since a very young age that he would be qualify to enter the Kingdom.

But firstly Jesus told him that noone but God is good. He might think that he was good because he followed the laws but God saw everything about him, the same way He sees everything about us. Nothing is hidden from Him.
So Jesus, having seen what's in the young rich man's heart told him to sell all his belongings, all his riches and to give them to the poor then follow him.

You would think that if he truly loved God, that would be something he could do in a heartbeat.. afterall he wanted eternal life.
But as we heard from the reading, he left with a sad heart because he could not do so. He might be following all the laws but his heart loves his wealth more than God.

Then Jesud told his disciples that it would be easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.
Jesus said this because he knew all of us have something we treasured more than our love for God. We all have something that stop us from giving all of us to God so that we could follow Him completely.
Therefore Jesus knows that it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to have eternal life by our effort and strength alone.

Jesus told His disciples.. something that is also very important for us to remember.
“With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God”

God wants us to know that whatever it us that stopping us in having a step closer to Him, hindering us from giving our all to Him, confusing us from believing in Him completely, weakening us from continuing our faith journey in Him...
Whatever it is.. with Him, we can overcome it because ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE with God.

We hope that in knowing this you will have the amazing joy in your heart always.

Have a blessed Sunday and the coming week.

Good morning children

Today we learn Mark 10: 2-16

On verses 2-12, Jesus were having a dialogue with some of the Pharisees about marriage. They wanted to know if divorce (when a couple decided not to be with each other anymore) was allowed.
Here Jesus agreed that Moses permitted it simply because the harden of pal's heart not to love anymore. However He concluded that what God has joined together, let noone separate.

This is a very challenging topic, especially for children, and often is not as clear as a black and white, especially in today's society, nevertheless Jesus reminded them on how God sees marriage as a unity that he doesn't want to be broken, especially not because of adultery. Marriage is not simply an obligation but as something that unites and bind us in love that needs to be cared and nurtured always.

We later read on how Jesus rebuked the disciples when they tried to stop the children whose parents brought them because they wanted them to be blessed by Jesus.
Jesus reminded the disciples that even when they saw children as insignificant and unimportant, God saw them as important part of the kingdom of God.

But Jesus also wanted the disciples to learn that unless they receive the Kingdom of God just like those children, they will never enter it.
Why would He said that? Because children mostly love unconditionally, their hearts are pure, full of love and joy. So Jesus wants us to be able to have that kind of heart, which not only link to what he tried to tell us about marriage but also how we should be with each other and the greater world.
Because by only so, we will see the Kingdom of God.

So children, next time you think that you are not loved or that you are not good enough or special enough. Remember that Jesus loves you and blesses you every single day of your life.
