Who are the “Matthews” in our lives?
In this week’s Connect, Create and Celebrate service, Jack Curham reflects on the calling of Matthew — someone many people would have written off completely. But Jesus does not avoid him, exclude him or wait for him to become respectable. He walks towards him and says, “Follow me.”
It’s a lively and challenging reflection on grace, welcome, baptism, and the uncomfortable truth that Jesus calls us to love and pray not only for the people we find easy, but also for those we find difficult.

For June, July and August, they will be on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.

In September, they will be on the 1st and 4th Sunday.

This week’s sermon for Christian Aid Week was given by David Blackmore on the Sunday after Ascension Day.

David reflects on the story of Frida in Nairobi, whose life has been transformed through urban farming and the support of Christian Aid’s partner, Beacon of Hope. It is a powerful reminder that small beginnings — like the mustard seed — can grow into something abundant, generous and lasting.

The Ascension does not leave the disciples standing still, staring upwards. It sends them out into the world as witnesses to Christ’s love. And Christian Aid Week reminds us that this calling is still ours today: to stand with our global neighbours, work for justice and dignity, and put love into action.
