The Madagascar government, through the Ministry of Communication and Culture, honored 15 members of the group Ny AKO, for their longstanding contribution to Christian faith, culture and music.
The ceremony, held on August 30 2026, at CCI Ivato, recognized seven members as Commanders, four as Officers, and four as Knights of the Order of Arts, Letters, and Culture. The honors coincided with the Madagascar Scripture Union's 55th anniversary.

During their Wales tour in June and July 2026, Ny Ako performed 18 concerts, including at the PCW General Assembly, visited 13 schools for miniconcerts and workshops, and participated in 7 church services, where members shared their
faith and personal testimonies.

Montgomery Chapel was blessed to host a very special joint service on Sunday, bringing together members of the Mizo community living in the UK and the local chapel congregation.

The service was conducted in both Mizo and English. The young people took part in the service through their singing, while the children proudly displayed their beautiful artwork.

The service was led by Rev. Rebecca, following the traditional style of church worship in Mizoram. Rev. Sangkhuma shared the Word and led the celebration of Holy Communion.

We were also honoured by the presence of Rev. Nan Powell Davies, General Secretary of the Presbyterian Church of Wales, and her husband, Rev. Huw Powell Davies, who joined us for this special occasion.

This service was part of a three-day retreat programme organised by UK Zofate, Rebecca and Miara, held over the weekend at Pentrenant Hall.

On 31 August 1897, Rev. D.E. Jones arrived in Mizoram, India, to begin his mission work. His arrival became a defining moment in the history of the Mizo people and the Christian faith in Mizoram.

Every year on this day, churches across Mizoram commemorate his arrival as “Ramthar Day” , a day of remembrance, thanksgiving and reflection on the journey that began with his mission.

Today, it was especially meaningful to gather with some of the Mizo community in the UK at Brooks Chapel, where Rev. D.E. Jones served as a minister before leaving for Mizoram. The chapel is now cared for by Rev. Rebecca, who herself comes from Mizoram, creating a beautiful connection between the past and the present, Wales and Mizoram.

A wonderful occasion to remember a shared history, celebrate faith and honour the enduring bond between Wales and Mizoram. 🙏🏽❤️

Rev Mary Turnock's reflection for this week.

Miracles still happen! Well, not exactly a miracle but certainly something totally unexpected. I may have reported a long time ago (at least 12 months) that my pond had been emptied of all its fish by a beautiful, if unwanted, heron. I waited a few days in case there were some survivors and then decided the pond could remain devoid of fish in the hope of other wildlife taking over. Over the past weeks, the pond has also suffered a depletion in water level, and there is very little clear water at all.

A few days ago I heard a ‘plop’ as I walked past the pond – at last, a frog I decided. A few plops have been heard over the following days….but no sign of the frog! Then, today, I caught sight the ‘plopper’ – not a frog at all but a goldfish! Indeed, there were two goldfish swimming happily in the deeper end of the pond. How amazing that, beyond all expectation, some small fry had survived the onslaught of the heron and are now showing themselves as adult fish. Sorry, water company, but I hurriedly put a couple of gallons of water into the pond as I contemplated the wonder of nature and how these small animals had survived without any interference or help from me. I now have to purchase some fish-food to replace that which I gave away!

As I look around our sad world at the moment, I have renewed hope that nature will bounce back from the destruction which we have brought upon it by our selfish use and abuse of the world’s resources, And I am also reminded that the Good Lord is ever ready to allow us to bounce back from our neglect or mis-use of His glory and authority. However far we may roam from his love and care He never gives up on us and there is always the opportunity to find renewal of faith and abundance of life within His loving presence. So, if there’s anybody out there who’s thinking “It’s too late” just, like my fish, test the water and discover that you can swim with the arms of the Lord to support you.

As the chorus of an old hymn states - based on the scripture ‘ The eternal God is you refuge and under neath are the everlasting arms’ –
Leaning, Leaning Safe and secure from all alarms Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms

Or perhaps that should be : Swimming, swimming…………!

A wonderful evening at Summer's Evening of Entertainment at Geuffordd Chapel!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, especially the Sunday School children and the many talented young people from Welshpool High School, who wowed us all with their amazing performances.
The evening ended perfectly with tea and a delicious selection of cakes.
