The SEB hosts events, competitions, training & DofE expeditions. 4 West Kent groups are still active the 2nd, 14th, 18th & 28th.

𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.

Derek was a hugely popular and well respected figure within London District for many years. He ran the West London Gym Team, providing displays at numerous Boys’ Brigade events and offering support and instruction to leaders and young people from companies across London.

He also served as a Trustee of London District for several years until 2014, continuing to volunteer afterwards as a competition convenor and as part of the Life 2 the Max events team and as a District drill judge at the annual London Band & Drill Competition.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸’𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿 passed away this week. Alan was an old boy of the 2nd West Kent, where he reached the rank of Sergeant, and he remained closely connected to the Company throughout his life. In the 1970s he served as Band Master for a period of time, giving generously of his time, skill, and leadership. During the early 1980s he made a significant contribution to the 14th West Kent, where he enjoyed a very successful period supporting their band work.

Alan later returned to the 2nd West Kent as a drum instructor, continuing to invest in young people and in the musical life of the Company until around five years ago.

In addition to his dedication to the traditional BB band, Alan was also highly respected across the wider Show Bands community, both within the Boys’ Brigade and in the broader marching and musical circles. His musicianship, discipline, and encouragement influenced countless young performers and earned him deep respect from fellow instructors and band leaders.

In recognition of his long-standing service and commitment, Alan was appointed an Honorary Vice President of the West Kent Battalion. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, musicianship, and encouragement to generations of young people.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

🌟 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹

The South East Battalion President has issued a challenge to local companies: 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵‑𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹. The goal is to install new stainless steel work benches that will make the space safer, more durable, and far better equipped for the hundreds of young people who use it each year.

This is a brilliant opportunity for your organisation to get involved in a meaningful community project. Whether you host a bake sale, run a sponsored challenge, organise a team event, or come up with something completely unique, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

🔧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥! 🌿

Our first work day of the year is happening 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 starting at 𝟵:𝟯𝟬𝗮𝗺 at 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹.

Our main focus will be getting the site ready for the upcoming 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗥𝘂𝗻 and there’s 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 for everyone.

👥 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 — every pair of hands makes a difference.
