Weeting St. Mary's Church

The Parish of Weeting is one of the four parishes of the Grimshoe Benefice. The Benefice motto is "G The other Parishes are St. James' Hockwold; St. St.

The Parish of Weeting is one of the five Parishes in the Grimshoe Benefice. Mary's Feltwell; St. George's Methwold and St. Andrew's Northwold. The Benefice Motto is Gently Reaching Into Minds Spirits & Hearts Of Everyone. Mary's is a 12th Century Church with a round tower containing two bells. There are a number of unusual features within the Church. Firstly there are two sets of double Piscinas,

on is located on the windowsill in the Lady Chapel and the other is on the windowsill in the Sanctuary. Secondly there are a number of Pew Ends engraved with Poppy Heads
Thirdly, hanging on the wall at the western end of the Nave there is a Wooden Cross that was brought back from the World War One French Battlefield that commemorates twelve brave men from the village who paid the ultimate sacrifice. In the Church and Churchyard there are numerous memorials to the Angerstein Family who lived in Weeting Hall. John Julius Angerstein will be best remembered for his generous donation of numerous paintings to the National Gallery. The stained glass East Window was refurbished in 2000 by the descendants of Mrs. Hall who purchased Weeting Hall from the Angerstein Family and who commissioned the original window in 1900 soon after the death of her husband.
