A special reflection from Major General John Kendall, Deputy Commander of Land Forces, during his visit to the Festival at Bhaktivedanta Manor.

From the warmth of the welcome to the enthusiasm of the children and the dedication of the volunteers, his words captured what makes the Festival so meaningful: community, service, diversity and togetherness.

A celebration that brings people of different faiths and backgrounds together as one community, rooted in joy and selfless service.

It’s one thing to hear something meaningful. It’s another to let it become part of the way we live.

Perhaps the things that stay with us are the ones we take time to understand, practise and experience for ourselves.

Happiness comes and goes. But the joy of deeper connection can remain.

Connection with yourself. With others. And ultimately, with the Divine.

Perhaps true joy begins when we look beyond the temporary and reconnect with what is eternal.

A meal can mean more than food.

For someone who finds it difficult to shop or cook, a warm meal, a friendly face and a few moments of conversation can make a day feel a little easier.

These words from people who receive Meals on Wheels mean a great deal to everyone involved. We’re grateful to the volunteers who give their time, and to everyone who supports this service.

If you’d like to help, you can volunteer, donate or simply share the work of Meals on Wheels with someone who may benefit.

Sometimes, being around people who understand your journey can mean more than we realise.

For this visitor, a day at the Manor offered time to reconnect, find stillness and spend time with others on a similar path.

His words are a gentle reminder of how important community, reflection and spiritual connection can be along the way.
