St Wilfrid's Cowplain

St Wilfrid's Cowplain We're the local Church of England parish for Cowplain, near Waterlooville in Hampshire. Our Sunday morning services are now back in church.

Whether you've always gone to church, or if you've never been before, you'll find a huge welcome at St Wilfrid's and a place here that is perfect for you. Our traditional Holy Communion service is at 9am, and our SUNDAYS @ 11 informal service is for all ages and stages in life - it's certainly suitable for families and children. There's a great welcome with refreshments after each of these service

s. On Thursdays, our 10.30am Holy Communion service is traditional yet informal - and a great place to be. We are now opening St Wilfrid's Church for individual prayer on Mondays to Fridays from 8.30am to 5pm. As Christians we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He’s alive and wants to help us all through the ups and downs of life. Being a Christian is the best possible way of living!

Thank you to everyone who has made Holy Week so special for us. Some of us enjoyed a Seder meal on Maundy Thursday as we reflected on Passover and what that means for us today. Then we had a Holy Communion service with optional foot washing and a chance to hear our friend from Hart Plain, Rev Kate, preaching.
Good Friday started with Messy Church which had lots of opportunities for exploring with paint as well as a final chance to take part in this year’s Easter experience. Some of our church family took part in the Waterlooville walk of witness. The day closed with a service reflecting on the cross.
Holy Saturday is a day of rest before our four Easter Day services:
6:30 am sunrise service on Padnell rec
9:00 am Holy Commmunion
11:00 am Worship for Everyone
7:00 pm Celebration worship as we rejoice that ‘He is risen!’

What a privilege it was to welcome Padnell Junior School to church this morning for their Easter service. We heard some amazing Easter poems written by year 6, had intercessions led by year 5 and saw some of the eggs year 3 & 4 have been decorating. We all joined in with Easter songs and also listened to the choir and their amazing soloists. Rev Chris explained the meaning of Easter and how christians remember this in a Holy Communion service. The children were invited to remember for themselves by taking a bit of bread and a grape (we didn’t think we should use wine!). Well done to Miss Harris for all her organising.
We wish everyone at the school a Happy Easter and look forward to working with you in the summer term.

Lovely to see so many little lambs at toddlers this morning. We also run on a Wednesday morning which is currently a quieter session so plenty of space for more to join in the fun. No booking required, just come to our upper hall from 9:30 onwards.

Our Easter experience is all set up ready for people to come. In the run up to Easter we are looking forward to welcoming groups from local schools as we help them to explore the journey from Palm Sunday to Easter Day.
If you would like to walk through the Easter experience church is open every day and you are always welcome.

Our CMS mission partner, Alison Giblett, has had to leave Ukraine to renew her passport and visas. Since she is back in England she is joining us at both services this Sunday where we will have a chance to pray for her and to hear the latest from the frontline. As this week marked the fourth anniversary of the Ukraine war our prayers are needed more than ever. Even if you can’t join us in person on Sunday please do join us in prayer for a peaceful and just resolution to this conflict. 🇺🇦

Thank you to everyone who came along to cafe church this morning where we looked at the parable of the mustard seed. We did finger painting to make cards and marvelled at the creativity in the room. We planted seeds and thought about what we would like to grow in our lives. We had our fill of fruit and yummy treats and enjoyed chatting to one another as we learnt together.
