Starting from this Thursday, Fr. Yuce will be teaching on Christian baptism and what it means to be baptised as an infant, and also as an adult. We will be delving into baptism's Old Testament roots, look at New Testament and how the early church viewed the relationship between baptism and Christian identity and discipleship.

All sessions will be held at St. Thomas' Church, Heighington at 7 pm. This week's session will be preceded by a Eucharist for the Feast of the Ascencion of our Lord at 6:30 pm at St. Thomas.

First session: May 14
Second session: May 21
Final session: May 28.

You do not need to be a part of our own parish. All are invited.

Collect for St. Mark:
Almighty God,
who enlightened your holy Church
through the inspired witness of your evangelist Saint Mark:
grant that we, being firmly grounded
in the truth of the gospel,
may be faithful to its teaching both in word and deed;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

The Collect for St. George's Day:

God of hosts,
who so kindled the flame of love
in the heart of your servant George
that he bore witness to the risen Lord
by his life and by his death:
give us the same faith and power of love
that we who rejoice in his triumphs
may come to share with him the fullness of the resurrection;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Addressing the Emperor Diocletian while being tortured, St. George said:
"Do not imagine that it is any human learning which keeps me from being harmed by these torments. I am saved only by calling upon Christ and His power. Whoever believes in him has no regard for tortures and is able to do the things that Christ did"

Today, we commemorate the patron saint of England, St. George. Please join us for the Eucharist that will be saif for our patron saint at St. Thomas' Church, Heighington at 7 pm.
