Mooching in central Birmingham, we can never resist a picture of St Martin's in the Bullring, and here's two pictures. The first one has the Tree of Life sculpture in the foreground which commemorates the victims of the Birmingham Blitz in the WWII. The second picture is the copper pine tree which was made from the salvaged copper roof of a building demolished in the Bullring ❤️

St Edmund King and Martyr in Southwold, Suffolk. A beautifully presented and very impressive church which must be one of the county's finest. Surprisingly the tower is 29 metres high and the church is surprisingly lacking in stained glass. A large part of the reason for this was a) the destruction of the medieval glass in 1644, and b) the destruction of the subsequent glass by a WW2 bomb landing very nearby almost exactly 300 years later! The church was built over a period of about 60 years between the 1430s and 1490s from local flint stone ❤️

We could have easily missed this fantastic little church, hidden away as it is from the centre of the village. It is so surrounded by trees in its own little enclave that you have to be virtually in front of it before you see that superb 16th century Tudor brick built tower. What a brilliant find though All Saints in Waldringfield was! ❤️

St Philip's Cathedral in Birmingham and the statue of Charles Gore who was firstly Bishop of Worcester, then Birmingham, then of Oxford. A hugely important figure in the Anglican church who is celebrated outside this somewhat understated but beautiful Cathedral ❤️
