Church of St Leonard at Wroxall Church of St Leonard at Wroxall
Wroxall Abbey, CV35 7NB You are welcome to visit us in addition to your home church, or to join us as your permanent church.

The Church of St Leonard at Wroxall Abbey in Warwickshire was built in the 14th Century, as an addition to the main abbey, built in 1141 AD. The original abbey is now in ruins, but the Church remains as a thriving, independent Christian church - serving the Lord for over 700 years. The church is led by Rev Canon Dave Cooper and his wife Mandy, alongside Rev Canon Pete Earle and his wife Rev Wendy

Earle - with a wider team supporting the congregation - and regular preaching by Bishop David Carr, Bishop/Abbot of Wroxall Abbey. We provide weekly services, special services, retreats, and life events with marriages, baby and child dedications, and celebrations of life. The team have combined ministry experience of over 200 years, spanning church leadership, academic education, pastoral care, international ministry, worship and chaplaincy. We are an independent Christian church, structured as a charitable incorporated organisation with a board of trustees. We are a member of the Order of St Leonard, via which we are recognised as members of Churches Together in England. Our mission is to add to the kingdom - and our website and social media pages provide information on the many ways in which we achieve this. Our services are held at 4:00pm each Sunday, followed by free refreshments at the beautiful Wroxall Abbey Hotel within their lounge and terrace, just a few steps from the church and with whom we share the site. We are the only church in England offering Christian marriages that shares its site and facilities with a hotel - and there are many unique options for weddings and life celebrations in combination with the hotel facilities - from intimate events to large scale - and over 27 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds to enjoy. We believe this is a special place; a place dedicated to the Lord for a thousand years and within which a deep sense of connection can be discerned. We would love to meet you.

Join us this Pentecost Sunday as Bishop David bring us the word on ‘Living in the inheritance of God’. 1 Peter 1:3-9 emphasises living hope…imperishable, heavenly inheritance, regardless of earthly trials. Tested, but shielded; challenged, but changed; unseen, but unwavering and unequivocal. The permanence of the Lord’s glorious promise revealed.

This Sunday, Rev Canon Dave continues the Miracle series with episode 13 - the man tormented by demonic legion, as described in Luke 8:26-33. Not only a narrative on grace for mankind, but a reflection on ultimate authority - where evil, too, seeks permission and mercy from the Lord. A Miracle that asks many questions and confounds many answers - but always leads to evil shrinking beneath his Holy name.

Gates open at 3.30pm, service at 4pm.

When the Pharisees attempted to entrap Jesus for the miracle of healing and restoration on the Sabbath, legalism itself was put on trial. This Sunday, Rev Canon Dave takes us on a journey through mercy, love and law - challenging the basis of theology that subverts the compassion of Christ.

Service starts at 4pm - you’re so welcome to join us 🙂

We’re excited to be welcoming our Bishop David back this Sunday to bring us the word; sharing on John 16:7-11, exploring the transition of Jesus’ physical ministry on earth to the Holy Spirit ‘Paraclete’ - helper, advocate, comforter, and counsellor. The Spirit that dwells within and without; a deeply personal, living and active relationship - accessible to all, for all time - that we will know and be convinced by the truth, and the truth is divine.

Gates open at 3.30pm and service starts at 4pm 🙂
