Christian Aid Week in Erdington 9.15am on Saturday 16 May at the OIKOS Cafe! Sounds yummy! https://caw.christianaid.org.uk/fundraiser-2026/big-brekkie-erdington

I’m fundraising this Christian Aid Week to support families facing hunger. In Nairobi, parents like Fridah are growing food in small spaces to make sure their children can eat. With support from Christian Aid and Beacon of Hope, families are learning how to grow food and build more secure futures....

Christian Aid Week is here ❤️
To mark the start of the week, the Bishop of Blackburn shares a powerful reminder of what it truly means to put faith into action.
'…You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' - Mark 12:31
As global neighbours, we’re called to stand with mothers like Fridah and Belinda - women who are fighting food insecurity and building hope for their families in the heart of Nairobi.
Seven days to give, fundraise, pray and act together.
We can't wait to see what you get up to this week!

Congratulations to David, from Birmingham cathedral for completing his fundraising cycling from Land's End to John o' Groats. I was happy to receive the picture of David at John O’Groats marking the end of weeks of cycling raising money for Christian Aid to mark his 70th birthday. He has managed to raise above £8 000. I spoke to David who was in good spirit at the end of the journey. He did have some challenges on the way including a bad fall, but that did not stop his spirit to go to the end. You can still donate to his page which is still live as he hopes to get to £11 000. Congratulations David.

You can still donate to his cause through the link:

David's story:

For 80 years, Christian Aid has stood in solidarity with our more marginalised global neighbours throughout the world, of all faiths or none. It works together with individuals and local communities to tackle poverty and address the root causes in an ongoing and sustainable way.

I am fortunate to live in an area of the world where I have never known sustained hunger and deprivation, and the good things of life have been readily accessible. I want to do something to help people who don't have such advantages.

So, partly to mark my 70th birthday, I'm cycling from Land's End to John o' Groats with a friend from university days. We've delayed our start date by nearly 4 months to allow me to recover from a broken wrist (due to falling off a bicycle...). We're unsupported, so will need to carry all our kit. It's just a pedal bike - so no electronic assistance! Our chosen route is individual, though uses significant elements of the Cicerone and Sustrans guide routes.

And the money goes a long way in less developed countries - my aim is to raise £10 for Christian Aid for every mile cycled.

Celebrating 80th anniversary of in Westminster Abbey. What a joyous moment with fellow work colleagues, supporters and international partners. Was glad to meet Paul Grime one of the Christian Aid supporters from Worcester who is actively engaged with Christian Aid in different projects abroad and speaking in churches within our region (picture below)

I was happy to raise high the placard demanding the right to access to food for all people. We continue committed to restoring humanity on this broken world.

I am proud of the work I do in West Midlands working with different churches through speaking to their congregations, providing them with adequate fundraising resources, attending fundraising events, doing campaign work on climate justice, decolonisation, and debt cancellation amongst others.

Certainly the contribution of Christian Aid to support victims of world disasters and wars continues to be critical and we will not stop until humanity is restored. It is not something we simply choose to do but something we feel compelled to act on be abuse we are human. Are you? If so, join our efforts and support Christian Aid.

Lovely to have spent time with pilgrims from St Peter and St Paul in Chaldon who walked in Herefordshire for the past week fundraising for Christian Aid and going through some spiritual awakening. 22 pilgrims led by Rev Helen concluded their 60 mile walk at Hereford cathedral. Batanai, the Christian Aid Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer for West Midlands met them and spoke to them about the work of Christian Aid and the focus for this year. He thanked them for taking time to journey physically and spiritually while ensuring that those who hunger or are in war zones get something to eat through donations raised.

Together, though tired, they sang and prayed.

Christian Aid remains grateful to such supporters for their commitment in eradicating poverty.

How was your Christian aid week? I’m please share with us what you did.
