Living as a citizen of heaven while residing on earth creates a necessary tension.
The prophetic call is to "come out of her, my people" (Rev. 18:4)—not necessarily physically leaving cities, but spiritually separating from the principles and practices of Babylon.
Guard the Mind: In an age of digital distraction and moral relativism, the command to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, and lovely (Phil. 4:8) is a defensive strategy for maintaining one's heavenly identity.
Practice Contentment: The secret of being content in any situation (Phil. 4:11-12) breaks the power of materialism, which is a primary idol of earthly citizenship. It declares trust in a heavenly economy that is not subject to market crashes.
Prioritize Allegiance: While believers are called to be good citizens of earthly governments (Rom. 13:1-7), their ultimate loyalty belongs to God. When human laws conflict with divine law, the citizen of heaven must obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29), regardless of the consequence.
