Last night, parish safeguarding officers and diocesan safeguarding colleagues from across the Diocese of Chelmsford gathered at Chelmsford Cathedral for a Service of Thanksgiving, Prayer and Recommitment.
The service provided an opportunity to recognise the dedication, wisdom and care of those who carry safeguarding responsibilities in churches and communities across the diocese. Their work is often carried out quietly, but it is essential in helping to create environments where people are safe, heard and supported.
Gratitude was expressed for the commitment of all who serve in these roles and for their willingness to continue this important ministry.
Bishop Lynne Cullens offered a thoughtful and sensitive reflection, her words encouraged a deeper appreciation of safeguarding as an integral part of the Churchβs mission and ministry.
As parish safeguarding officers and diocesan safeguarding teams were recommissioned, prayers were offered for wisdom, courage and compassion in the year ahead, and thanks were given for the faithful service they continue to offer across the Diocese of Chelmsford.
We give thanks to our own Parish Safeguarding Officer Leonora Doclis Nora Doclis-Capili who is now in her 4th year volunteering in this capacity for our church
