We've just started a new series of Sunday messages at Jubilee.

Rather than working through a particular book of the Bible – which we've just done with Hebrews – we're going to be looking at the essential truths of what it means to be a Christian.

These messages aren't just for new Christians or the curious – they're for everyone. We all need reminding from time to time about the basics of our faith.

Dave got us started on Sunday with "Strong Foundations": How Christians are built to withstand the pressures of life.

If you missed it, or you'd just like to watch or listen again, visit our website at jubileechurchwirral.org.uk, or search "Jubilee Church Wirral" wherever you get your podcasts.

This Sunday our young people are embarking on their annual sponsored walk to raise funds for Newday.

Newday is an amazing week and we don't want anybody to miss out on the opportunity of going because of money – hence the sponsored events like this, Supercake Sunday and the Quiz Night.

To sponsor our young people, just fill in the form at the back of church if you're there on Sunday or visit https://jubileechurchwirral.churchsuite.com/donate to give a one-off gift.

It's the Jubilee Church Wirral Quiz Night TONIGHT!

It's not too late to enter and you can just pay on the door.

Remember: this is a quiz for EVERYONE.

– There will be questions that under-10s can answer
– There will be questions that over-70s can answer
– There will be questions that anyone in between can answer
– But there will be no Bible questions. This is a church quiz night, not a churchy quiz.

Secondly, there will be prizes – and not just for the winning team.

Everyone who comes on the night will be entered into a draw to win prizes that have been donated by local businesses including:
– Bistro 115 in New Brighton
– Bake My Day in Upton
– Krugers Jewellers in Wallasey
– Riverside Bowl in New Brighton
– The Derby Pool in Wallasey

Plus it will be a great night!

It's just £3 per adult to enter, all the money goes to a good cause (sending our young people to national Christian youth camp Newday) and under-12s go free.

When? Saturday May 23rd, 6.30pm (TONIGHT!)
Where? Jubilee Church Wirral, Hose Side Road, Wallasey CH45 0LA.

Will you be there?

Which city do Liverpool play in?
Which is nicer – Pepsi or Coke?

These are just some of the questions that won't be asked at this weekend's Jubilee Church Wirral Quiz Night.

There will, however, be:

– Questions that over-70s can answer

Don't forget to bring coins and notes for Supercake Sunday tomorrow.

This annual event is tremendously popular for obvious reasons (who doesn't like cake?) but let's not forget that it's a fundraiser for our Newday fund, not just an opportunity to eat lots of lovely cake and feel good about it!

IF YOU ARE bringing a cake, whether you are buying it or baking it, please do ensure that it is nut-free.

It's all happening tomorrow (Sunday April 26th) immediately after the meeting, which starts at 10.30am at Jubilee Church Wirral, Hose Side Road, Wallasey CH45 0LA.

Today is Good Friday.

Why is it called Good Friday?

Billy Graham, who knew a thing or two, put it like this: "If you had spoken with Jesus’ family and followers on [the first Good Friday], all hope seemed lost; Satan and his servants seemed to have won; evil and death seemed to have triumphed.

"But if you had spoken with them only a few days later, you would have heard something entirely different! Then they knew all was not lost; Satan and his servants had not won; evil and death had not triumphed. In fact, the opposite was the case: The forces of evil had been defeated, death had been destroyed, and from that point onward human life would never be the same.

What made the difference? The difference was twofold: Jesus’ tomb was empty, and He had appeared to them. In other words, Jesus had broken the bonds of death, and now He was alive! And suddenly they realized that what had seemed at first to be a defeat was in fact a victory—a victory over Satan and sin and death. The Bible says, “You, with the help of wicked men, put Him to death. … But God raised Him from the dead” (Acts 2:23-24).

Why is it called “Good Friday”? Because by His death, Jesus became the final and complete sacrifice for our sins. We cannot erase our guilt, nor can we overcome our sins by our good deeds. But Christ did what we could never do for ourselves, by dying for us on that first Good Friday. May this day truly become “Good Friday” for you, as you confess your sins and put your faith and trust in Christ.

Are you a Christian today? Have you given your life to Jesus? What's stopping you?

✝️ 🙏 ❤️
