Stations of the Cross.

Tuesday 31st March at 6pm.

The Stations of the Cross have formed part of Christian devotion at Passiontide for many centuries because they enable us to engage actively with the path of suffering walked by Jesus. At each Station around the church, we gather and a reading for the scene depicted and a time of reflection before moving to the next Station.

They originated when early Christians visited Jerusalem and wanted to follow literally in the footsteps of Jesus, tracing the path from Pilate’s house to Calvary. They would pause for prayer and devotion at various points. Eventually those pilgrims brought the practice back to their home countries and ever since then Christians of differing traditions have used this form of devotion.

The Feast of the Annunciation.

St Peter's Church Woolley - Wednesday 25th March at 6.pm.

All are welcome.

The Annunciation is the event where the angel Gabriel visits Mary and tells her she will give birth to Jesus, the Son of God. Mary is initially troubled but listens as Gabriel explains that this will happen through the Holy Spirit. With humility and faith, Mary accepts her role, saying, “Let it be with me according to your word.” This moment marks the beginning of Jesus’s life on earth and is celebrated as a sign of Mary’s obedience and God’s favour.

Men Behaving Godly

We meet on the last Tuesday in a month 7-9pm at The Bay Horse Pub, Stoney Lane, Chapelthorpe WF4 3JN.

Did you know that men are usually a minority group within church congregations. With this in mind we are holding a monthly mens group where we can chat about God, the world, items on the news, basically chew the cud.

All are welcome.
