THURSDAY 27th AUGUST at 10 am in HOLY TRINITY CHURCH - our mid-week morning (said, not sung) service of HOLY COMMUNION according to the Book of Common Prayer (1662).
EVERYONE WELCOME - COME to the service and STAY for BRUNCH (For the last few weeks, I've been recommending the interior of Holy Trinity as a blessedly and wonderfully cool space where you can escape the heat ... but, looking at the weather forecast for Thursday, Holy Trinity is the ideal place to shelter from the rain.)

9.30am Choral Eucharist - 23rd August - 12th Sunday after Trinity. This is the Eve of the Feast of St Bartholomew (24th August) but the Gospel reading is about St Peter being the rock on which the church is founded.
EVERYONE MOST WELCOME at our morning (sung) service of Holy Communion
Revd Jo Nicholson will be presiding and preaching, and she will have to rush off afterwards to take the 11am at St Boniface Church. But YOU don't have to rush off! Stay afterwards for coffee, cake and convivial conversation in the church hall.

Holy Trinity Church - 5pm Healing Eucharist - Sunday 9th August
ALL WELCOME at this sung service of Holy Communion, which includes the Sacrament of Healing and Anointing with Oil.
The Old Testament reading for the 10th Sunday after Trinity tells of how the prophet Elijah has fled for his life, fearing that Queen Jezebel will kill him if he is found. He has risked everything to serve his God - to turn the people of Israel away from the false prophets of Baal - but now he is hiding, exhausted and terrified.
What happens next is mirrored in the last lines of the final verse of the well-known hymn "Dear Lord and father of mankind", which we will sing before the Gospel: "Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; / Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, / O still small voice of calm, O still small voice of calm!"
At the start of that final verse, the writer asks God to "Breathe through the heats of our desire / Thy coolness and thy balm".
Holy Trinity can offer coolness - an escape from the heat, and the noise - in its calm, awe-inspiring Victorian Gothic interior. Balm is provided in the Sacrament of Anointing with the Oil of Chrism.
DO COME! and experience that "still small voice of calm."
