Shine Pinehurst

Shine Pinehurst shine is local residents working together to help people and places sparkle!

We are a ‘fresh expression’ of the Church of England working on the Pinehurst Estate, Swindon. Our charitable aims and objectives are:
To advance the Christian faith within the diocese of Bristol for the benefit of the public in accordance with the doctrines, policies, practices and patterns of worship of the Church of England by furthering its pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical activit

ies. To work alongside local residents of the Pinehurst estate, Swindon and its environs (especially children and families) to grow their skills/aspirations/capacity, so that the local community is enabled to identify and respond to their own needs. We aim to achieve this through General Charitable Purposes; Education/training; Community Engagement; Youth and Childrens work and the Prevention Or Relief Of Poverty.

Every Friday we run a cooking project with the Early Intervention Team at Wiltshire Police and cooking with young people who might be at risk. This term we have a great group of 4 year 9 girls who are great chefs! Last week they cooked an amazing spread of stir fry, fried rice and breaded chicken! Delicious! 😋

Some days there are just stories that make you stop and realise how much young people value the activities we run. On Friday one of the young people turned up to Friday Football with a suitcase. Earlier that day the house next door to his had caught on fire and damaged his house and they had too move out then and there. He was on the way to stay with a friend but wanted to come to Friday Football first 🥺🥺
