Turners Hill Free Church

Turners Hill Free Church A welcoming, Bible-centred, evangelical church for all ages. Passionate about knowing Jesus, growing in faith, and sharing God's love with our community.

Join us for God’s Word, worship, prayer and fellowship every Sunday at 10:00am. We are a family of Christians in and around Turners Hill, West Sussex, who have been brought together by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, his death for the forgiveness of our sins and his resurrection for a wonderful new life by His Spirit, overflowing with the love of God.

The sound didn’t work on this video on Sunday, so we had to share it here too. Feel the joy during this time of offering!

What a great morning together at Turners Hill Free Church! 🙌

🇸🇱 Kwai shared with us about her time in Sierra Leone, giving us such an engaging and informative glimpse into life at Sierra Leone Mission. From long days and lots of travelling between churches and services, to seeing the many needs around broken buildings and limited resources, she gave us a real sense of both the challenges and the joy of our friends there. Despite the difficulties, there is such a wonderful sense of joy as people praise God and give Him the glory.

👑 Bill then brought us a challenging and encouraging message from Isaiah 6:1–7, looking at the holiness and majesty of God. We were reminded that while earthly rulers and kingdoms come and go, God remains on His throne. In the face of His holiness we recognise our own need, but through His grace we can be cleansed and called to serve Him.

🕊 And with the children, we began our new look at Mark’s Gospel, starting with Mark 1:9–13. We thought about the Good News Jesus brings through sensory playing - baptising in the Jordan, in the wilderness with the wild animals, and the Holy Spirit. Watch till the end to see how the grownups made more mess than the children… 💦

A morning full of challenge, encouragement and reminders of the goodness and greatness of God.

This Sunday, we’ll be returning to our normal weekly timetable after the summer holidays.

Our children’s ministry, Rock Solid, will be back, Bill Calder will be preaching and Kwai will be sharing about her recent trip to Sierra Leone.

Our other regular activities will also be starting back, including Little Angels and our various midweek prayer meetings and Bible studies.

We’re looking forward to getting back into our usual rhythm and hope to see you there! Every blessing.

What a blessed time we had together on Sunday! We heard all about the highs and lows of camp and how God had been speaking to our fantastic young people. We learnt some new songs, spent time worshipping together and prayed for all the children, young people and teachers heading back to school. Pete then spoke to us powerfully from Mark 2:13–17. What a wonderful way to begin a new term together!

Most of our young people are currently in Dorset enjoying a week of teaching, worship, activities and community at Discovery Camp. See if you can spot any familiar faces in this reel!

Pastor Pete’s wife, Sarah, has special links with Hants & Dorset Christian Youth Camps and this is the second year we have been blessed by participating in their Summer camps.

Us at Church back home we can’t wait to hear the stories of those that went on Sunday!

Ever wonder if ‘following your heart’ is really the best advice? 💞

On Sunday, Matt looked at Jeremiah 17:5–10 and explored what the Bible has to say about where we put our trust. Rather than being led by our own changing hearts and emotions, we can bring our hearts to Jesus and root our lives in God’s unchanging truth.

Watch the full sermon to discover how Jesus transforms our hearts and leads us home.

This Sunday, Pastor Pete took us through Mark 1:35-45, where we saw the importance of following Jesus' example of spending time alone with the Father.

We reflected on three simple but challenging truths:
✨Solitude gives us strength.
✨Solitude refuels mission.
✨Solitude inspires compassion.

In the midst of our busy lives, are you carving out time to be with your heavenly Father, just as Jesus did?

🙏While our usual midweek programme takes a pause over the summer, we're delighted that one of our church family will be leading prayer meetings on Tuesday 11th August and Tuesday 25th August. If you'd like to spend time together seeking the Lord, waiting on Him in prayer, and bringing our petitions before Him, we'd love for you to come along. Get in touch for more information.

From this, to this in the space of a week 🌱😱 After returning from a family holiday to find an allotment overrun with weeds, Mark was given the picture of how sin can quietly grow in our lives when left unchecked. We don’t plant weeds and we don’t intentionally plant sin, but small compromises can quickly take root.

Mark reminded us through Joseph’s story in Genesis 39:1–23 that faithfulness isn’t measured by easy circumstances, but by trusting and obeying God because “the Lord was with Joseph.”

Whatever you’re facing today, spend time identifying and digging up those weeds; flee from sin, cling to Christ, and remember that God is with His people, even in the hardest seasons.

On Sunday as the grown ups marvelled over Jesus’ authority over demons and sickness the children explored Psalm 33. They learnt to trust God through a team challenge: following a leader with our eyes closed, just as we can trust God who sees what we can’t. Amongst other activities we also had a bubbly praise party, celebrating that God is faithful and always keeps his promises! 🎶🫧💙

On Tuesday we had our final Little Angels party of the school year ☹️ We had such a fun time enjoying bouncy castles, sensory trays, cake and parachute games in Ray and Cathy’s garden. Follow us on Little Angels for more information 👼

🏰 Today in Rock Solid we learned from Psalm 46 that God is our refuge and strength, a fortress we can always run to. The children loved building these amazing Lego fortresses as a reminder that whatever life brings God keeps His people safe in Him.

🎣 In our morning service Pastor Pete brought us a challenging message from Mark 1:14–20 reminding us of Jesus’ call to repent and follow Him, whatever the cost, because He is worthy!

✨ OGM ✨ After the service we had our family update meeting, hearing all that God has been doing in and through the life of the church. For a small, village church we’re certainly busy! From our kid’s ministries Little Angels and Rock Solid, alongside Bible studies, prayer meetings, morning groups, to our mission partnerships in Sierra Leone, Romania, Thailand and Gilgal Bible College in Kerala, and being a church that seeks to send and support gospel ministry, we’re so thankful for all that God is doing.

🙌 We give Him all the glory and pray that everything we do would make Christ known and help people come to know and follow Him!
