The Global Week of 24/7 prayer is almost upon us. We are excited to be joining together at the Gatehouse in the Market Square, Tunbridge Wells, from 1–7 September as we come together as Churches for Tunbridge Wells to pray for our town. There will be early morning prayer each morning from 6.30-7.00am
There will be traditional morning Prayer from 9.00-9.30am each morning.
There will be Evening Worship & Prayer from 7.00-8.00pm each evening.
Finally, on Sunday evening, 7 September, we will all be gathering at Bennett Memorial School for a finishing time of Worship and prayer from 6.00-7.30pm.

Together, we are praying for;
A) Encounters with God
B) Unity in the Church
C) Transformation in our town.

Dear All

The Mosaic Resource Centre Manager, Julie Russell, who has overseen the Centre since it's opening in the autumn of 2022 is stepping down from her role. We, Mosaic Resource Centre Management Team, have been exceptionally blessed by Julie's dedication and professionalism. She has led a fantastic group of volunteers and has managed to ensure our guests are well cared for and signposted to further help. We are so grateful to Julie for all her hard work and investment into this role.

Job Title: Manager – Mosaic Resource Centre for homeless support

Location: Quarry Road, Tunbridge Wells

Job Type: Part – time (approx. 20 hours per week)

Salary: £28,500 - £29,450.00 (pro rata per annum) depending on experience.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic Manager to lead and oversee operations at our Resource Centre, providing support to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their accommodation. This role involves managing a team of volunteers, coordinating community partnerships and ensuring individuals receive the necessary resources and services to regain stability, whilst maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all.

Key responsibilities

Supervise, train and support a team of volunteers, ensuring a high level of professionalism and compassion.

Maintain a positive and inclusive work environment, ensuring morale and satisfaction.

Promote and uphold client dignity and respect, ensuring confidentially, empathy and non-judgemental care.

Offer befriending/mentoring to the guests whilst de-escalating any conflict and tension within the resource centre.

Work closely with community organisations, government agencies and other charities to provide integrated support services. Building strong relationships.

Act as an advocate for the homeless population.

Manage supplies and materials needed for daily operations.

Represent the Resource Centre at community meetings and forums.

Prepare reports for senior management highlighting the centre’s activities, achievements and challenges.

Ensure the efficient and effective running of the centre, providing high quality customer service to agencies who rent the additional space. Making sure the centre’s resources are utilised optimally.

Ensure the centre’s facilities are maintained in excellent condition, including counselling/office rooms, common areas and equipment.

Making sure the centre adheres to all relevant health & safety regulations.

To be responsible for the reporting and recording of all Incidents and safeguarding concerns to the management committee and the following up of subsequent actions relating to these matters, which can include making safeguarding referrals.

Personal attributes:

Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
This role involves direct interaction with our guests including those in crisis situations and therefore may involve working in challenging or emotionally intense environments.

Flexibility and adaptability to meet the challenging and changing needs of the community and our guests.

Experience with working with vulnerable individuals would be a benefit.

But most importantly a compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental approach to supporting our guests.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those experiencing or at threat of homelessness. As the Resource Centre Manager, you will have the chance to lead a vital community service, build strong relationships and directly contribute to long term solutions for homelessness.

Wednesday 24 August is Ukraine's Independence Day. This will be marked by a short (10-15 minutes) gathering at the Millennium Clock at 1pm which will include the playing of the Ukrainian National Anthem and a few prayers being shared. Please come and join, showing support to our Ukrainian friends.

We were very pleased and blessed to welcome over 65 Ukrainians to St James' Church today for our Churches for Tunbridge Wells 'Welcome Day.' Thanks to all the team who came to help with crafts, games, tea - coffee - cakes; making lunch and thank you to all the Ukrainian families who came along today. We pray for God's peace in your hearts, minds and lives - and for peace in your homeland.
