“He is not here; he has risen.” - Matthew 28:6

Easter morning breaks open the world again.
The stone is rolled away, and with it every story that ends in despair.
Hope rises, light returns, and the promise of the everlasting life with it. Alleluia! He is risen!

Wishing you a joyful and hope-filled Easter.

A prayer for Holy Saturday by the Revd Andy Braunston

And so we wait.
The cross stands empty.
Ex*****on completed.
Disciples despondent and despairing.
The status quo restored.
The dangerous preacher silenced;
in a year or two they believe he’ll just be another memory - a historical curiosity.
Job done. Unpleasant, I’ll grant you, but necessary.
It’s better that one man dies for the sake of the people after all.
Give it a day or so and things will settle back down.

And so we cry.
We mourn dreams stolen by violence.
We grieve lives marred by torture and terror,
We ache for lives limited by oppression and brutality,
for mothers left without children; for what could have been.
We’re angered by injustice – then and now –
trumped up charges, hurried trials, lying witnesses;
the powers that be ensuring they remain safe.
Our tears run dry and our emptiness seems overwhelming,
but we know this isn’t the end of the story.

And so we hope.
We hope for better days,
for justice, for renewal, for victims to be believed,
for torturers and terrorists to face a reckoning,
for mothers’ tears to be dried,
and for children to run free.
We hope for things to change,
for the poor to find their voice, the hungry to be fed,
and for the new, extraordinary, life of resurrection,
to change the world.

Prayer for Iran 🙏

God of Peace,
We hold the people of Iran in this time of deep distress.
Where there is fear - grant Your peace.
Where there is violence - bring Your protection.
Where hearts are hurting - pour out Your comfort.

Loving God, we pray especially for those mourning the loss of loved ones,
for those who are injured, imprisoned, or afraid,
and for those seeking justice, freedom, and dignity.
Surround them with Your love.

We pray for leaders and those in authority -
grant wisdom, restraint, and compassion.
Turn the hearts of those with power toward healing,
not harm; toward reconciliation and peace

In our prayers, we remember our sisters and brothers
who worship with us in our churches here in Britain
We thank you, God, for the blessing they bring to our church communities.
God of mercy, we ask for Your Spirit to move in Iran -
to bring peace, hope, and a future of justice.
May Your love be known by every person affected by these events.

Amen.

A new command I give you: 'Love one another.' - John 13:34

Tonight we return to the table where Jesus chose service over status and love over power.
In the quietness of bread shared and feet washed, we remember the call to love as Christ loves — humbly, generously, wholeheartedly.

Wishing you a reflective and meaningful Maundy Thursday.

LIFE IN THE WORD - FORGIVENESS THIS LENT

Lent invites self-examination, not to achieve something by Easter, but to look honestly at our inner depths: our limitations, virtues, and motivations.

That honesty can be uncomfortable. Holding our lives up against the life and words of Jesus is humbling. Yet what we find there is not condemnation but mercy in His example, as with in the woman caught in adultery, in the healing of the sick, in his prayer for those who crucified him.

Jesus shows us that mercy overrides judgement and forgiveness must be boundless. In a world peppered with conflict, injustice and inequality, our capacity for forgiveness and mercy towards others has never been more vital - to help heal the open wounds lashed across our world today.

Forgiveness is hard. We struggle with it. But Psalm 103 reminds us of the scale of what God offers us: "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." And again: "As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for us."

God's love reaches beyond any boundary we can imagine. This should surely give pause to reflect this Lenten period, to self-examine with an honesty and depth that perhaps we would not normally even consider. And then act… as is so often sung… in the name of love.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
Matthew 18:21-35

A REQUEST FROM YOUTH FOR CHRIST

"Across the MENA (Middle East, North Africa) region, five of the seven YFC countries are directly impacted. For now, our staff and their families are safe, and for that we are deeply grateful. But the emotional toll is heavy."

Please join us in praying for all those affected in the region.

“The Lord is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble… though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46

PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYING FOR:
• All teenagers across the region, many of whom are facing fear and uncertainty.
• Protection for civilians caught in the conflict.
• Courage, strength, and endurance for YFC staff and their families.
• Wisdom for leaders making critical decisions.
• Restraint and calm where anger and tensions are rising.
• Supernatural peace in homes filled with anxiety.
• The Prince of Peace to reveal Himself in the midst of chaos.

Thank you for standing with our YFC family in prayer during this difficult time.
