Children's groups will be taking place as normal.

This Sunday at 10 a.m. St Luke's is hosting a service of Morning Worship for Trinity Sunday as we kick-off our Summer season of readings. Rev Amanda is leading and speaking.

Because it's half-term, there's no children's groups this week.
They will be involved in the worship instead.

Last week, St Luke's PCC agreed to join the Let's Be Blunt campaign (www.letsbeblunt.co.uk) and the Knife Crime Awareness Week campaign (www.knifecrimeawarenessweek.org.uk) (18-24 May) and to pledge, as a church organisation, to do what we can to combat knife crime.

In our own church, we're now conducting an audit of knives in our church kitchen, replacing pointed-end knives with blunt-end knives, and taking steps to secure all knives on the premises.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Spring Fair on Saturday. To all those who donated items to sell, volunteered on stalls and generally helped, a huge thank you and special massive credit to Melanie and our fundraising team for all their hard work in organising. A great time had by all.

Thanks also to Charlotte and Melanie for the great photos.

We'll be able to announce the total raised in due course.

This coming Friday you are welcome to join us as we host a Vigil for Peace.

Come anytime between 6pm and 8pm. Stay for the whole thing or sit for five minutes in contemplative prayer as we pray for our world, pray for the peace of the world, for peacemakers and peacekeepers, and for ourselves in the midst of conflict in so many places.

Every quarter hour, a short reading, prayer and piece of music will be used. At other times, we will keep silence and pray.

All are welcome.

Our children were getting creative and constructive this morning in Explorers as they thought about church buildings this morning and made their own. We like the water outside the Lego church so that you travel to worship by boat!

On St George’s Day, we give thanks here at St Luke's for our home nation of England and we celebrate all who live here. As Christians, our love for this nation is expressed through our welcome and our sense of justice and care for the stranger, following the example of Christ.

A prayer:
God of all nations,
we give thanks for England and its people.
Where fear and division grow, plant compassion.
Where symbols have been misused, restore their meaning.
Shape us to be a church of courage, welcome and hope,
faithful to Christ in all we do.
Amen.

Happy Shrove Tuesday everyone! Thank you to all the children and their parents who came along to the St Luke's Shrove Tuesday Pancake Party today. We went through nine pints of pancake mix!!! 😍

Well done to our pancake champion with 25 flips in 20 seconds. How is that even possible?
