Volunteers’ Week: Join us for a Long Table Lunch!

As part of Volunteers’ Week, you’re warmly invited to a special long table lunch at Truro Cathedral.

This relaxed and friendly gathering brings together team members, volunteers, visitors, and the wider congregation to share food, conversation, and community. The cathedral will provide the tables for a communal picnic-style lunch — all you need to do is bring your own food and pull up a chair.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, reconnect with familiar faces. Whether you’re a regular volunteer, part of the congregation, or simply passing through, everyone is invited. Come along, take a seat at the table, and be part of something special.

Behind every smile, every service, and every moment in our cathedral are volunteers working behind the scenes. 💛

Their time, care, and dedication keep everything running and make it all possible.

This week, for Volunteers' Week we are shining a spotlight on their stories and experiences.

Hayley, Bell Ringing Master (pictured centre) describes volunteering at the cathedral: " I’d say it’s a hugely welcoming place and to be able to ring the bells within it is an absolute privilege. To volunteer in such an outstanding building that is in many ways a flagship, week in, week out, makes one feel a part of it. We’re not afraid to set our expectations high and challenge ourselves to become better."

Tomorrow 🙏

Join us for a truly historic and uplifting occasion as “Oferen an Dasserghyans” (The Mass of the Resurrection) is premiered at Truro Cathedral.

This beautiful new Mass setting, written entirely in Cornish by Mike O’Connor, marks a significant moment for both the Church in Cornwall and the Cornish language. With music inspired by Cornish traditions and folk melodies, it’s designed for everyone to sing and enjoy. Come and be part of something special.

Celebrated on the Eve of the Feast of St Petroc and led by the Truro Cathedral Choir, this will be the first time the Eucharist is believed to be conducted completely in Cornish.

📅 Wednesday 3 June
🕐️ 17:30

A full English translation will be provided.

🎶 Come along, join in, and witness history in the making. All are warmly invited. For those unable to attend in person the service will also be live-streamed via our website (link below) and YouTube channel.

Behind every smile, every service, and every moment in our cathedral are volunteers working behind the scenes. 💛

Their time, care, and dedication keep everything running and make it all possible.

This week, for Volunteers' Week we are shining a spotlight on their stories and experiences.

Charles, Volunteer Chaplain says volunteering at the cathedral is "One of the most fulfilling things I've ever done! It's about people. It's a privilege when people choose to share their concerns and personal issues with you and consent to you praying with them.

Sometimes, as the conversation progresses, I realise I'm the one being ministered to, rather than doing the ministering. And on the days when you've listened to somebody telling you something particularly difficult - how they've messed up their whole lives - struggling with their mental health - addiction - and you can see it by their appearance and demeanour - then it seems so worthwhile that you were there and that hopefully, in some small way, your listening made a difference for them"

🌟 Celebrating Our Incredible Volunteers – National Volunteers’ Week 🌟

As we celebrate National Volunteers’ Week, we would like to share heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all that our wonderful volunteers do as part of the cathedral community.

The time, care, and dedication they give is an essential contribution to the life of the cathedral. In the midst of busy and full lives, their generosity, energy, and commitment are truly invaluable. Their support makes such a meaningful difference and helps the cathedral thrive. 💛

Throughout the week, we will be sharing volunteer stories, celebrating the inspiring individuals who make up this community. It is a pleasure to highlight their experiences and recognise all that they bring.

Everyone including volunteers are warmly invited to join us for:

Evensong – Friday 5 June at 5:30pm (with prayers for volunteers)
Lunch at the Long Table for Volunteers week – Sunday 7 June, 12:00–1:30pm

With sincere thanks for everything they do to make the cathedral such a special place.
