On Thursday 3rd Dec at 7pm in St Nicks Arts Centre, Swafield we'll screen a performance of Golden Boy from NT Live!

Josh O’Connor (The Crown; Challengers) leads the cast in this searing revival of Clifford Odets’ knockout American classic.

1930s New York, at the height of the Depression. Joe Bonaparte is a gifted young violinist with a future in music, until a chance at fame and fortune lures him into the brutal world of professional boxing. He must confront what he’s willing to sacrifice, who he’s willing to become and how to find his place in a world that demands he choose a side.

Brought to life with a live string quartet and filmed live from the Almeida Theatre. Olivier Award-winner Sam Yates (Vanya) directs this propulsive drama exploring ambition, identity, and the high price of success.

The film has a TBC age classification.

It's a new comedy - the sequel to the original 2006 movie. Set two decades after the events of the first film, it follows Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as she helps Miranda Priestly (Streep) navigate a new media landscape and corporate threats to the survival of Runway magazine.

On Thursday 24th Sept at 7pm in St Nicks Arts Centre, Swafield we'll screen a performance of The Misanthrope based on the play by Moliere.

Award-winner Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) plays the title role in this razor-sharp reimagining of Molière’s classic dark comedy.

Telling the truth isn’t always that simple. Alice, a brilliant novelist, despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society. But the more she challenges those around her, the fiercer the backlash becomes. Soon, she must confront the price of speaking her truth in a world that would rather silence her.

Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Indhu Rubasingham directs Martin Crimp’s (Cyrano de Bergerac) highly anticipated play.

Maria Konoshenko, Michael J McEvoy
SONGS of EXILE album launch concert
Sat 8th August 7.30 pm

A concert, dedicated to Maria Konoshenko’s new album Songs of Exile, co-produced with Emmy award-winning, British-American producer, Michael J McEvoy. The forthcoming album Songs of Exile is a powerful collection of musical settings of poems written by exiled and imprisoned poets. Konoshenko acknowledges the influence of 20th-century émigrés — Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Vertinsky and Kurt Weill — artists who transformed exile into a powerful creative engine.

As a singer, Maria’s greatest passion is chamber music, spanning classical art song, tango and folk traditions. Her vocal style draws inspiration from Maria Callas, Tamara Sinyavskaya, Sarah Vaughan and Dianne Reeves. She has performed with orchestras and Baroque ensembles in Russia and the UK, including Musica Universalis and Norwich Baroque and has appeared in recital with pianists across Europe.

Michael J McEvoy is an Emmy award-winning and Ivor Novello nominated composer, producer and songwriter with many film, television and pop music credits to his name. His music scores include Richard Loncraine’s Finding Your Feet starring Timothy Spall and Imelda Staunton and Richard Linklater’s Me and Orson Welles starring Zac Efron and Clare Danes. Recent credits include the hard-hitting environmental feature doc, Ending Real Fur, 4-part series hacker:HUNTER, and Rebecca Coley’s 2023 surfing documentary, Point of Change (co-scored with Paul Oakenfold, Stephen Warbeck and Lewis Morison). In 2018 he scored the Peabody Award-winning BBC/PBS documentary, The Jazz Ambassadors. Other work in television includes ITV mini-series, Dark Angel with Joanne Froggatt, the landmark series for NatGeo, Alien Deep, Einstein’s Big Idea for (PBS/Nova) and Battle of the Hood and Bismarck.

This is My Theatre - The Great Gatsby.

We’re especially looking forward to the return of THIS is MY THEATRE from Brighton - it’s one of our favourites! Some of you probably remember their mesmerising performance of Romeo and Juliet at St Nicks in Swafield in summer 2018. On Saturday 18th July they are returning with The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

St Nicks: Not to be missed! ★★★★★ EPIC - Elvis Presley In Concert ★★★★★ - 10th July

On 10th July at 7pm in St Nicks Arts Centre, Swafield we'll screen a performance of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Documentary - One of the Most Exciting Concert Films You’ve Ever Seen!

Luhrmann originally sought out unseen footage with the intent of using it in his 2022 Elvis film. Sixty-eight boxes of footage were found in the Warner Bros. film archives within salt mines in Kansas, This footage came without sound so the recordings have been restored and synced to existing audio sources to create a film that is neither a documentary nor a concert film but a dazzling testament to Elvis's late-period greatness.

This screening will have a special introduction by ‘Elvis is in the building’ from The Blue Sueders, not to be missed!
