Happy Easter from everyone at 1st Troon Girls’ Brigade!

Over the past few weeks, the girls have been learning about the Easter story and why Easter is such an important time in the Christian calendar. We’ve had crafts, activities and discussions, and it’s been great to see the girls learning and growing together.

As we celebrate Easter, we remember that it is a message of hope, new life and new beginnings. We hope all our girls, families and friends have a wonderful Easter weekend filled with joy, chocolate and time spent with family and friends.

Happy Easter everyone! 🌼✝️🐣

On Tuesday night, the girls had a fantastic visit to Troon Community Fire Station as part of this years theme of Superheroes. Throughout this year, the girls have been learning about what it takes to be a hero and looking at the real-life heroes in our community.

During our visit, we were given a tour of the fire engines, the girls got to sit inside and see some of the equipment firefighters use, and they even had the chance to try using the water hoses; which was definitely a highlight of the night!

It was a brilliant experience for all the girls and a great opportunity for them to see first-hand the important work our local firefighters do. A big thank you to everyone at Troon Fire Station for taking the time to show us around and helping us learn more about real community heroes. 🚒

International Women’s Day is a chance to celebrate the strength, courage and potential of girls and women everywhere, and that’s something we’re proud to do here at 1st Troon Girls’ Brigade. 💜

Every week we see girls grow in confidence, try new things, support each other and discover the unique gifts they bring to the world. Girls’ Brigade has always been about helping girls become strong, confident and compassionate individuals who know their worth and the difference they can make.

We believe that celebration should be wide and generous. The world is full of different stories, journeys and identities, and a healthy community makes space for people to belong and be themselves. At Girls’ Brigade we are proud to be a place where girls and young women can feel safe, valued and encouraged to grow in faith, friendship and confidence.

Today we give thanks for the girls and women who lead, challenge, care, inspire and lift others up. And we celebrate all women and girls who are shaping the future in their own way. ✨

Happy International Women’s Day from everyone at 1st Troon Girls’ Brigade. 💜

💙 What we’ve been up to at 1st Troon Girls’ Brigade 💙

Over the last few weeks, our Juniors have been exploring “God’s Hero Code” (also known as the 10 Commandments) as part of their spiritual badge work. On Monday, they designed posters looking at kind and unkind words, and spent time talking about the importance of respecting God’s name. They also reflected on how it feels when our own names are used in silly or unkind ways, really thoughtful and mature discussion from the girls.

Our Brigaders have been diving into “What Would Jesus Do?”, spending the last two weeks exploring which behaviours can pull us away from God, and which ones help keep us close. This led to some fantastic conversations and the creation of some impressive and very creative posters that show just how deeply they engaged with the theme.

If you’re ever in St Meddans Sanctuary, please feel free to stop and take a look at the brilliant work on display, it’s well worth it!

It’s been genuinely lovely to see our young people having these kinds of meaningful conversations, engaging so well with the themes, and coming together to learn, reflect, and support one another 💙

🎄✨ Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from 1st Troon Girls’ Brigade! ✨🎄

As we wrap up for the year, we want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎅🎁

We’ve had a very busy and joyful festive period. At the beginning of the month, our girls took part in our Christmas Sing Concert, where they sang beautiful carols and helped collect food donations for South Ayrshire Foodbank a huge thank you to everyone who supported this. 💛🎶

We also had the privilege of visiting Belhaven House Care Home, where the girls sang Christmas carols for the residents and gifted them handmade presents created by the girls themselves. A truly special and meaningful visit that captured the spirit of the season. 🎵🎨

We ended the first half of our session in proper festive style with our Christmas party, and yes, we even had a very special visit from Santa himself! 🎅🎉

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year from our amazing leaders, parent helpers, everyone at Troon Church of Scotland, and all our families who continue to cheer us on. We couldn’t do it without you. 💙

We look forward to seeing everyone back in the New Year, refreshed and ready for more fun, learning, and memories together.

Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful Christmas 🎄✨

Our Leader in Charge, James, had the pleasure of attending the Troon Localities Community Engagement Event, hosted by the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership

In previous years, we’ve been fortunate to receive funding from the Local Planning Partnership (LPP), and this year we were delighted to be invited along as a youth organisation to host a table at their market-stall-style event.

It was a brilliant opportunity to hear more about the fantastic work SAHSCP have been doing across the area, learn about the changing demographics of our community, and see the real impact LPP’s small-grant funding has had especially for two local charities who shared how the support has helped them make a difference on the ground.

We were proud to be part of the day and grateful for the continued partnership. 💙🌟

🌧️ Remembrance Day Parade🌺

So proud of our girls who took part in today’s Remembrance parade in Troon. Even with the rain pouring down from start to finish, their spirits stayed high and they gave an amazing effort throughout.

A huge well done to:
•Holly and Amy for representing us so well as standard bearers,
•Khloe for laying the wreath with such respect,
•Cora for bravely and beautifully saying a prayer in the church after the parade.

Despite the weather, each of them showed commitment, dignity and teamwork, a real credit to the company.

Well done girls – you made us all very proud!💙

✨ Superheroes Come in All Forms! ✨

Last night we were thrilled to welcome Phil from the Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance - SCAA 🚁

He spoke to the girls about:
•The amazing work SCAA does saving lives across Scotland
•Why the service is so important, especially in remote areas
•What it’s like working as part of the Air Ambulance team
•How we can support and fundraise for them in the future

Phil also showed us photos of their brand new helicopter and shared some truly life changing stories of people who have been helped by the air ambulance 💛

This visit is part of our theme learning about “people who help us” and how superheroes don’t always wear capes — sometimes they wear flight suits! The girls learned that real life heroes come in many forms, and that we can all be superheroes too by helping and caring for others in our own communities.

A big thank you to Phil and the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance for inspiring us! 🌟

✨ Super Squad Assemble! ✨🦸‍♂️

Last night we swapped our uniforms for capes and superpowers! 💥 Our Explorers and Juniors had an amazing time at our Superhero Costume Party full of games, laughter, and some seriously heroic outfits (even a few of our leaders joined in the fun! 😉).

Meanwhile, our Brigaders took a more chill approach to their evening. Popcorn in hand, settling down for a movie night… and yes, somehow a Christmas movie made the cut in October! 🎅🎬

A super fun night all round — saving the world, one giggle at a time! 💙
