St Gregory's, Treneglos
WELCOME!

From Sunday, 5th July 2020, the church will be open on a limited basis for individual or family private prayer.

The building will need to be supervised while it is open because of ongoing repairs and to ensure the safety of users. At present the number of people eligible to take on this responsibility is very small.

Initially the church will be open each Sunday from 3pm to 4pm.

We shall have to continue to observe social distancing, etc, etc, to prevent the spread of infection.

The first service since the church has been repaired will be Harvest Festival and will be held on Sunday 22nd September 2019 at 3.00 pm. All are welcome.

We are very pleased to report that substantial repairs to the church roof and tower have been completed over the past months, making it considerably more safe, sound and weatherproof and preventing further deterioration. The interior of the church is drying out and the roof is now waterproof. More work is still required to complete the internal and external restoration in full and further grants will be sought to achieve this end.

St Gregory's Church needs urgent roof repairs so that it can be returned to use as a place of worship, as it has been since the 12th century. Steps to restore the church to use are well under way, with a grant of almost £100,000 having been offered from the Listed Places of Worship Fund for roof repairs. It is hoped that, with additional funding, it will also eventually be possible to restore the peal of Pennington bells, which have not been rung up for more than half a century and have not even been safe to toll for several decades due to the depradations of woodworm and damp.

Treneglos Harvest Thanksgiving 2016

This year's Harvest Festival service was held, not in the church, which is currently awaiting substantial repairs, but at Higher Scarsick by kind invitation of the French family. Some sixty people from the parish and beyond gathered under the leadership of the Rector, Revd Tony Windross, to give thanks through the traditional readings and prayers, and to raise their voices in a selection of well-known Harvest hymns rousingly led by members of the St Gennys Silver Band. Almost £300 was raised, to be divided between the church and Launceston Food Bank.
