We are devastated by the serious incident that took place at Big Church Festival 2026 today, in which a sign fell, injuring at least seven people, one of whom tragically lost their life.

First and foremost, all of our thoughts are with those who have been affected, their families and friends, and everyone who witnessed what happened.

Following today’s incident, we have made the decision to bring Big Church Festival 2026 to a close.

We know the current drought and Bluetongue outbreak are putting extra pressure on farming families across England and Wales. 🧡

If you’re struggling with the cost of feeding livestock, our Forage Aid Scheme may be able to help with a one-off grant towards feed costs.

We’re incredibly grateful to NFU Mutual Charitable Trust for their recent donation, helping us provide this vital support. 🧡

As we head towards the end of the school term in the UK, here's a thank you prayer for all teachers and school staff. We see you, & appreciate you more than words.

Why not share this with your local school to show them how grateful you are for all they offer the children in your local community. 🧡

Yes thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who always offer to make tea, coffee and biscuits or other special goodies...

Yes thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who always offer to make tea, coffee and biscuits or other special goodies at our gatherings. It is much appreciated by everyone.

Cheers to all the tea and coffee makers across our churches ☕️ Never underestimate your hospitality, service and welcome. It's over a cuppa that conversations are shared, hearts are opened and burdens are lifted. A church brew can be refreshment for the body and the soul, thank you for all you do.

Thanks to the amazing Ash, Jules & Terry part of the hospitality team from St John in the Wilderness, Exmouth.

We are immensely proud of Prof Morwenna Ludlow, one of several academics at Exeter newly-elected to the prestigious Fellowship of the British Academy. This is an honour given to only 50 scholars nationally per year and is reserved for those who have reached the highest levels of distinction in their academic fields.

Morwenna and three of the other new Exeter FBAs have issued a joint statement:
"We are all truly honoured by our election to the Fellowship of the British Academy. The recognition of our work from our peers means an enormous amount to us. It also reflects the wonderful, supportive and collegial environment of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Exeter where we work.

However, it's hard to celebrate when our University's management has decided to launch a devastating attack on humanities and social sciences at Exeter, putting nearly all the academics in the Faculty (including us) 'at risk' of compulsory redundancy.

These drastic, rushed and myopic cuts undermine the very environment in which our work was able to flourish. The targeted attack on humanities and social sciences represents a catastrophic failure to understand the critical role of humanities and social sciences in public life, and why understanding human society and its history is more important today than it has ever been."
