Day 1 Sacred Heart Novena (from pray https://www.praymorenovenas.com/novena-to-the-sacred-heart-of-jesus)
Today, let's pray that we might have hearts that are conformed to Jesus'.
Let's pray that we may have more forgiving hearts - that we may be like Christ in showing unlimited mercy to others every day.
This version of the novena is attributed to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. She is most commonly associated with the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.”
Behold I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of…

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.” Behold, in your name, I ask the Father for the grace of…

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away.” Encouraged by your infallible words I now ask for the grace of…

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of you, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, your tender Mother and ours.

Amen.

3rd June - Saint Charles Lwanga and his companions (- 1885/7)

Many Christians, Catholic and Protestant, were killed by the Ugandan king Mwanga. Some of them were servants in the king’s palace or even his personal attendants. Charles Lwanga and his twenty-one companions (the youngest, Kizito, was only 13) were executed for being Christians, for rebuking the king for his debauchery and his murder of an Anglican missionary, for “praying from a book,” and for refusing to allow themselves to be ritually sodomised by the king. They died between 1885 and 1887. Most of them were burned alive in a group after being tortured.
Within a year of their deaths, the number of catechumens in the country quadrupled. St Charles Lwanga is the patron of Catholic Action and of black African youth, and the Ugandan martyrs’ feast day is a public holiday in Uganda.

Praying for the children of our parish who will be making their First Holy Communion this coming Saturday and the following, that they will always grow in love for this precious gift of Jesus' very self in the Blessed Sacrament.🙏

Yesterday, 31st May, would ordinarily have been the feast of. The Visitation.

“Our Lady’s strength was her gaiety and joy. This is what made her God, her son’s attentive servant, because as soon as He came to her she “set out in haste.” Joy alone could have given her the strength to set out in all haste across the hill country of Judah to become the servant of her cousin. It is just the same for us. Like her, we must be true servants of the Lord and after holy communion each day we must hurry over the mountains of the difficulties we encounter, offering our service to the poor with all our heart. Give to Jesus in the poor, as a servant of the Lord. Joy is prayer, joy is strength, joy is love. It is love’s net with which to catch souls. “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7). Those who give with joy give twice over. If you meet up with difficulties and accept them with joy, with a big smile, in this, as in many other things, people will realise that your works are good and the Father will be glorified in them. The best way, of showing God and others your gratitude, is to accept everything with joy. A joyful heart comes from a heart that is burning with love.” … St Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997)

‘My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord
and my spirit exults in God my saviour;
because he has looked upon his lowly handmaid.
Yes, from this day forward all generations will call me blessed,
for the Almighty has done great things for me.
Holy is his name,
and his mercy reaches from age to age for those who fear him.
He has shown the power of his arm,
he has routed the proud of heart.
He has pulled down princes from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
The hungry he has filled with good things, the rich sent empty away.
He has come to the help of Israel his servant, mindful of his mercy
– according to the promise he made to our ancestors –
of his mercy to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.’
Luke 1:46-55

Trinity Sunday Today, we stand before the greatest and most beautiful mystery of our faith: the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Often, we treat the Trinity like a complex theological math problem to be solved, rather than a divine relationship to be experienced. We celebrate the greatest mystery of our faith. We would not know anything about it if God had not revealed it to us. The mystery is this: that God is Father, Son and Spirit. In the breath taking words of John 3:16—God reveals that the Trinity is not an abstract concept; it is an outpouring of pure love. God did not create us out of loneliness, but out of an abundance of communion. We are invited not just to understand the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, but to step inside their eternal circle of love and allow it to transform how we love one another.” It is not so much something to talk about (for words are totally inadequate), as something to celebrate, pray, ‘and live. Lord Jesus, you reveal to us the mystery of the Father, and of his love for us. You reveal to us the mystery of your own divine sonship, and you share your divine inheritance with us.
