Tonight sees the opening ceremony for what many describe as ‘the greatest show on Earth’ - the Olympic Games.

Athletes, coaches, judges and spectators from all over the world will come together in Paris for the world’s biggest sporting event.

We pray for fairness, respect, and joy amid the competitiveness and friendly rivalry and we pray that the Games might help make the world a better place.

Bishop Libby has announced the three archdeacons-designate who will help oversee and shape ministry in the diocese.

Matthew Trick will be the Archdeacon of Derby and South Derbyshire; Karen Hamblin will become the Archdeacon of East Derbyshire and Carol Coslett will transition to become the Archdeacon of Derbyshire Peak and Dales.

Please pray for them as they prepare to take on their new roles and responsibilities, which is expected to happen in June.

Advent Hope: An invitation from Bishops Libby and Malcolm

As we enter Advent, we look for the coming of Christ and of his kingdom, and the hope that gives us.

Between 29 November 2021 and 23 December 2021, Bishops Libby and Malcolm invite you to join them each week on zoom for 45 minutes of prayer and reflection together, based upon seasonal Bible passages.

Advent Hope is open to all and will be held on Monday morning from 7:30-8:15am and repeated on Thursday evening from 7:30-8:15 pm.

Both sessions will be on Zoom.
