Treske have over 45 years experience of designing and making special commissions for bespoke church furniture and furnishings, often for the restoration of significant ecclesiastical buildings. Working with church architects, clergy, congregations, as well as heritage and conservation bodies. Treske have undertaken the refurbishment of chapels, churches, sanctuaries and serveries. Treske have made

new altars and communion tables, lecterns, hymn boards, screens, fonts, crosses, aumbreys, tabernacles and candle-holders to their own original designs as well as those of church architects. Treske's specialist joiners are also frequently called upon to integrate new furniture with old woodwork of exceptional historic interest. Church chairs, choir stalls, benches and pews for clergy and congregation are all designed to meet the requirements of modern worship and community events. In a wide range of woods from oak to ash, stacking or not, bespoke or standard, sometimes with commemorative carvings or carved lettering. Treske have supplied parish churches, cathedrals, Quaker Meeting Houses, Methodist chapels, school chapels and faith centres, with the seating and furniture they needed.

Al Ain Crematorium, UAE

The Municipality of Al Ain developed a new crematorium and cemetery to serve the city’s vibrant international community, creating a welcoming, multi-faith space for non-Muslim denominations and Hindu traditions alike.

The Vision:

Create a dignified, adaptable environment with high-quality furnishings suited to both sacred services and daily operational needs.

The Solution:

Following initial site visits and staff consultations, Treske designed, crafted, and delivered bespoke furniture across the complex:

• Chapel & Sacred Spaces: Bespoke solid oak altar, lectern, reading desk, pulpit, memorial bookcase, communion silverware, and a 2-metre wall-mounted cross.

• Flexible Seating: 212 signature Treske lightweight stacking chairs in beech, stained to an oak finish for flexible chapel configurations.

• Support & Multi-Faith Facilities: Tailored furnishings for Hindu waiting areas, administrative offices, meeting rooms, and staff accommodation.

A privilege for Treske to bring British craftsmanship to an international project supporting Al Ain’s multi-faith community.

Our team at Treske had the privilege of working on the historic 13th-century nave and chancel of St Peter and St Paul’s, Rustington. As part of a major reordering process, we introduced bespoke furniture designed to blend seamlessly with the church's ancient heritage while offering flexible, modern functionality.

The Project Highlights:

• Flexible Seating: Heavy Victorian pews in the nave were replaced with elegant, highly stackable Howe 40/4 chairs, unlocking new ways for the community to use the historic space.

• Bespoke Choir Furniture: We crafted custom Treske St Mary’s benches paired with bespoke, hand-finished choir frontals.

•Sanctuary Centrepieces: From a striking central altar and matching credence table to bespoke clergy seating, preaching lecterns, and a paschal candle stand, every piece was designed to look at home in a space that has welcomed worshipers for a millennium.

This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful, bespoke design can breathe new life into heritage spaces without losing an ounce of their character.
