If you are interested in exploring the Catholic Faith or if you are an adult Catholic seeking Confirmation you are invited to speak to our priests or contact the Wash Common parish office.

We run RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) courses which you would be most welcome to join. The first meeting of the new course will be on WEDNESDAY 9th September at 7.30pm in the hall at St. Francis de Sales.

Meetings will generally be fortnightly on Wednesday's. Further details to follow.

For those recently Received into the Church and for those catholics wishing to learn more about their faith they will be welcome to join Sycamore, a course crafted by Bishop elect Stephen Wang. The first meeting will be on Tuesday 22nd September at 7.30pm in the Wash Common parish hall. All will be welcome, it would help with planning if you could notify the Wash Common parish office. Meeting will be generally fortnightly on Tuesday's.

At Sunday’s Mass Fr. Kevin announced details of the Confirmation programme via St. Francis De Sales parish, please see below the programme details and where to apply. Please do raise awareness and encourage any eligible Catholic teenagers to participate in the programme.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2026 -2027

The next Pastoral Area Confirmation programme will begin in September 2026. It will be offered to young parishioners, who are in year 9 or above (aged 14 – 18), and who are resident and participants in our Pastoral Area communities.

Confirmation celebrates the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit on a baptised person, completing and strengthening the grace given by the Spirit in Baptism. It marks the Christian as a follower of Christ and a full member of the Church.

If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office of the Church of St. Francis de Sales, Wash Common, Newbury as soon as possible, give your name, age and contact details. Information about the program will be provided when we receive your application. There is a payment of £126 which covers the entire cost of the retreat at St Cassian's in Kintbury.
