A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today for our High Mass, Procession and Blessing of the River Avon.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together - from our congregation, local residents, civic dignitaries, environmental groups and visitors - to stand beside our beautiful river in a shared commitment to its future.

Today's blessing was about far more than ceremony. Throughout the Bible, water is a sign of life, blessing and God's care for creation. We believe that caring for the natural world is part of our calling. As members of our local community, we also recognise the urgent challenges facing the River Avon through pollution and declining water quality.

We were especially encouraged that churches and communities all along the Warwickshire Avon joined together today in similar acts of blessing, demonstrating that caring for our rivers is something that unites us all.

May today's blessing inspire us all to continue caring for God's creation and working together for healthier rivers for generations to come.

All are welcome this morning for High Mass as we unite with communities along the length of the Warwickshire Avon, gathering for a series of River Blessings. What began as a local response in Tewkesbury has grown into a whole River movement, as churches from Rugby to the Severn confluence unite to highlight the ecological crisis facing our waterways.

This will be a moving and visually striking event, beginning with a High Mass inside the majestic Tewkesbury Abbey, before a full outdoor procession moves through the town and down to the banks of the River Avon. Led by clergy in vestments, accompanied by incense and sacred music, the procession will include the Abbey choir. There will be readings, hymns, and prayers, culminating in a dramatic blessing of the waters.

The combination of ritual, music, and public witness will make for a powerful spectacle - a rare and memorable event not just of worship, but of environmental hope and moral conviction.
