Wisdom to Reflect, Review, and Realign
Scripture:
"Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the LORD;" - Lamentations 3:40
Beloved,
As we reach the midpoint of the year, God is calling us to pause, reflect, evaluate, and realign our lives with His purpose. A mid-year review is not about regret, self-condemnation, or dwelling on past failures; rather, it is an opportunity to walk in wisdom. Our monthly theme, Wisdom for Living, reminds us of Jesus' instruction: “Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16).
True wisdom requires more than knowledge, experience, or good intentions. It requires spiritual discernment, honest self-examination, and the humility to make necessary adjustments when God reveals areas that need correction. One of the clearest marks of a wise believer is the willingness to regularly assess his or her spiritual condition and progress.
Many people are busy but not productive, active but not effective. Wisdom helps us discern whether we are truly progressing or merely moving. It compels us to evaluate our walk with God, our priorities, our stewardship, and our obedience to His Word.
God's instruction through the prophet Haggai remains relevant today: “Consider your ways” (Haggai 1:5). Wise people regularly pause to assess where they are, where they ought to be, and what changes are required to align with God's will. They do not wait for circumstances to force a review; they willingly examine themselves before the Lord and respond to His correction.
As you reflect on the first half of this year, do not focus only on your achievements or unmet goals. Consider whether you are growing spiritually, drawing closer to God, and becoming more like Christ. Ask yourself whether your life reflects God's priorities and whether your actions are producing fruit that glorifies Him.
May the Lord grant us the wisdom to assess our lives honestly, embrace His correction, and make the necessary adjustments to finish the year stronger than we began it.
