Can anyone help? Our church tower and porch / vestry roof restoration project work will be starting in the 2nd or 3rd week of July and will last ~8 weeks. During this time, our church will remain open to visitors and our weekly Place of Welcome on Saturdays and church services on Sundays will continue. As part of the work, the ceiling above our gallery will need to be removed, as it's being replaced with a new one - this is likely to generate a lot of dust, which could damage our pipe organ. Does anyone have any large dust sheets they could lend us for the duration of the work to cover our pews and organ, to save us having to buy them (and also save us having to do a deep clean at the end of the restoration work)? We'll be taking up the aisle carpet. We do have some sheets already, and some large plastic sheeting, but it's a large area we need to cover (see mock photo attached to give you an idea!).

We were pleased to welcome visitors from a Fijian church to our Place of Welcome this morning - fascinating to talk about the similarities and differences between our churches.

A big thanks to our local residents and members of the Ironbridge & Coalbrookdale Civic Society who supported us with the tidying of our churchyard and clearing of vegetation around the memorial to the Rev John Bartlett and his family. I think our volunteers are now ready for a long, cool drink! πŸ™‚

A big thanks for Caring for God's Acre volunteers who are scything our churchyard wildflower meadow again today - they are just removing some, but leaving most of it for wildlife. Too hot for doing it this week!

Quick reminder that our next Churchyard Work Party is this Saturday (30th May) afternoon (1-4pm) - please come along and help if you can! There's weeding / edging of our paths to do and cutting back of brambles etc. (we won't be cutting back any hedges at this time of year in case there are any birds nesting). We'll also be having a BBQ so bring something along to put on the barbie! πŸ™‚ Also, the wildflower meadow that's been developed with the support of Caring for God's Acre in the churchyard is coming up lovely...the grass in the rest of the churchyard will be cut regularly during the summer season to allow access to graves, as per our churchyard maintenance plan. If you need some peace and quiet, do go and sit on one of our churchyard benches to admire God's nature around us πŸ™‚
