It's our Harvest Thanksgiving Service & Meal in Buildwas Village Hall 3.00 - 5.00pm today (Sunday 4th October) - a great opportunity to worship together as we give thanks for God's provision for us at Harvest and to pray for our farmers and those who harvest the land and sea. Following the service 3.00-4.00pm, we will share a supper (e.g. soup / baked potatoes etc.) in Buildwas Village Hall (any food you could bring to share would be appreciated), finishing around 5.00pm. Please let us know if you're bringing food by calling Juliet on 07870 884123.
Donations of tinned or dried food at the service would be appreciated. Donated items will be given to our local food bank.
Other items will be auctioned at our Harvest Auction in The Mill at Leighton 6.00pm on Sunday 18th October, with the money raised donated to our local Food Banks so they can continue to offer their vital support to those in need. Please donate fresh produce (fruit / vegetables) to us a few days before the auction or on the evening of the auction, so they're fresh for the auction. Thanks!

A reminder that our 'Our Digital Ancestors' project is starting today. We're recording the details on our churchyard memorials (gravestones and tombstones) so we can make the information publicly available as a 'digital map' for genealogy research. We're looking for volunteers to help transcribe the information from the memorials and research the background of families buried here. If you're interested, we are meeting in the churchyard (postcode: TF8 7BZ) at 2.00pm this afternoon (Saturday 3rd October) - please come along to find out more if you'd like to help! Our Digital Ancestors is funded by The National Lottery and coordinated by Caring for God's Acre (CfGA), who also provide free online training for volunteers - a great way of building up research skills - more details here: https://www.caringforgodsacre.org.uk/our-digital-ancestors/

Due to our work developing our churchyard and wildflower meadow to make it a haven for wildlife, and our work to restore our bell tower and porch and vestry roofs to make them wind and water proof, we are delighted to have been awarded a Bronze Eco Church Award. This involved attaining the required standard in each of the five areas covered by the Eco Church survey:
- Worship and Teaching
- Buildings
- Land
- Community & Global Engagement
- Lifestyle

Back by popular demand, our regular jumble sale to raise money for the Buildwas Church 300 Restoration Project. £1 entry fee. Clothing: 50p per item / 3 items for £1. Household items. Bric-a-brac. TODAY! VISIT OUR HERITAGE OPEN DAY, HAVE A CUPPA & MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME!

Today (Saturday 12th September), as part of our Heritage Open Day, our Place of Welcome will be open as usual 11am–1pm in Buildwas Church (TF8 7BZ). Whether you're interested in local history, exploring the church, researching your family tree – or simply fancy somewhere friendly to stop for a cuppa – everyone is welcome!

There'll be plenty to discover, including talks about our conservation work; our ‘Our Digital Ancestors’ churchyard digitisation project (try your hand at brass and memorial rubbing!); the story of our Rev. John Bartlett who brought clean water to Ironbridge; and much more!

📜 A VICAR, A VILLAGE AND A VERY INTERESTING STORY…
Have you heard about the Rev. John Bartlett, the vicar of Buildwas for almost 40 years from 1822 to 1861? Come to Buildwas Holy Trinity Church tomorrow (Saturday 12th September) and discover his remarkable story!

💧 The Rev. John Bartlett played an important part in bringing clean water to Ironbridge. His distinctive iron gravestone can still be found in our churchyard. And there are exciting plans to restore the historic water fountain erected in his memory by his wife, returning it to its original location in the centre of Ironbridge.

Members of the Ironbridge & Coalbrookdale Civic Society will be at our church during our Heritage Open Day to tell the story of Rev. John Bartlett and his contribution to the local community. It's just one of the fascinating stories you'll discover when you visit our historic church.
