Project Neptune community engagement
Following on from the publication of the 'Project Neptune' report, Jenny Gilruth MSP, the Transport Minister committed to a full consultation process with communities to discuss the report’s findings and seek views on the structures needed in delivering our Ferry Services.

The Minister has asked Angus Campbell, Chair of the independent Ferries Community Board, to lead on this. Angus will be visiting a number of communities across Scotland to gather views before providing a report to the Minister for Transport. Transport Scotland will be supporting Angus in this.
The purpose of the review was to provide Ministers with a strategic framework of options for the CHFS network. And to:
To help to identify the preferred corporate and governance structures for the
delivery of ferry services on Scottish Ministers’ behalf.
To provides Ministers with views on what could be done to restructure the CHFS network, rather than on what should be done.
The full report looked at two aspects of current ferries delivery.
Governance, Internal Controls and Value for Money which considered short term changes that could be made to shareholder and project governance, to
deliver interim improvements whilst longer term future options are under
consideration.
Future options, which provided a comparative analysis of alternative
governance models drawn from international practice, to develop a
preliminary “short list” of options for detailed consideration.
A public drop-in session will take place from 1300-1500 in the Sleat Free Church Hall on Friday 17th February hosted by Mr Campbell with support from officials at Transport Scotland. This will be an opportunity for any one to raise issues in respect of what you, as a resident, business or organisation want from Scotland's ferry service network, short, medium or long term.
All are welcome to attend and as he has said 'nothing is off the table' in this public consultation process.
The Project Neptune Report is a lengthy and at times complex report from the consultants Ernst and Young but can be read in full here.
