VE Day to be marked by bellringing
Church bells rang out across the country on VE Day 1945, and they are being rung again all over Britain (mostly at 6.30pm) on the 80th anniversary of VE Day which is Tuesday next week 8 May. We have a band of visiting ringers who will be ringing for around 20 minutes at 5.50pm

Monksilver in Spring

The hedgerows hum with waking bees,
soft murmurs drift on warming breeze.
Through emerald fields and winding lanes,
the earth revives, the light remains.

The church tower stands, steadfast and tall,
where blackbirds sing and shadows fall.
The stream runs clear past mossy stones,
whispering tales in liquid tones.

The bluebells bloom in secret glades,
while lambs skip high through sunlit shades.
The air is laced with thyme and rain,
the quiet pulse of life again.

Monksilver stirs, as seasons blend,
where time is patient, paths descend.
Through bud and blossom, leaf and wing,
the village breathes—the heart of spring.
