This absolutely delightful Half-Penny Token was produced in 1799 and just goes to show that St. Editha's and Tamworth Castle have been working in partnership for at least a few centuries!

A big shout out to Tamworth Castle and the fantastic work that they do at the top of the hill! We love working with Lara and the team ❤

We in Tamworth are rightly proud of our heritage and shared history and we can't wait to celebrate Athelstan 1100 together in July!

We are looking forward to welcoming renowned organist Ben Saunders for a special recital at St. Editha's on Saturday 20th June, 7.30pm!

Ben has performed for the late HM the Queen, Princess Anne, and US President Carter, and collaborated with conductor Carl Davis and jazz virtuoso Dick Hyman. His international solo career includes concerts across France, Italy, Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Russia, and the United States.

In this special concert, Ben will put the grade-I Harrison organ through its paces - it should be quite a treat!

Pre-book your tickets at www.tamworthtickets.co.uk (you can also pay on the door).

St. Editha's held a beautiful and well-attended service for Corpus Christi on Thursday.

The church looked absolutely breathtaking thanks to Sue and her brilliant team of flower arrangers who decorated the High Altar with red roses, the traditional flower of the festival.

We have so much incredible creativity in Tamworth, we can't wait to see what the St. Editha's team does for the upcoming Tamworth Flower Festival, 23rd - 26th July this year!

We celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi at St. Editha's tonight (4th June) with a special service at 7.30pm.

This special festival was established in 1264, to set aside a day to give thanks for the Eucharist (also called Communion, or Mass, or the Lord's Supper). It is always a happy occasion and all are very welcome to attend the celebration, which will be followed by sherry and shortbread!

We are saddened to announce that St. Editha’s Church has decided to resign from the Tamworth Strategic Partnership Board, due to ongoing concerns that Tamworth Borough Council is not acting consistently in the public interest.

A key factor in the decision has been the Council’s introduction of Sunday parking charges in the town, which will be hugely detrimental to Tamworth and have been introduced in the face of significant opposition from local businesses, charities and residents.

The introduction of Sunday parking charges is emblematic of a broader pattern of decision-making that prioritises revenue generation over accessibility, community well-being, and inclusive town-centre use.

We feel a responsibility to speak out when decisions disproportionately affect residents, volunteers, and visitors, particularly those who contribute to the social and spiritual life of the town.

Our withdrawal from the Partnership does not in any way signal a retreat from community engagement; we reaffirm our long-standing commitment to serving Tamworth through worship, outreach, charitable work, and collaboration with local organisations and businesses, including chairing the Tamworth Town Centre Forum.

We remain open to constructive dialogue with Tamworth Borough Council, should policies and approaches change. In the meantime it is not possible to work in partnership with a council which consistently takes unilateral decisions that detrimentally affect its partners.

We hope that Sunday car parking charges will be repealed, and that future council decisions will place greater emphasis on transparency and *meaningful* public consultation, promoting policies that genuinely support the social, cultural, and economic well-being of Tamworth rather than simply generating additional revenue for the Council.

(On a lighter note, we thought it was both telling and hilarious that the new parking signage was installed 2 days after the "public consultation" period ended: obviously, as ever, the consultation was a meaningless exercise 🙃)

You may never have seen this lovely historic chair which is kept in the Vestry at St. Editha's. Originally for a priest or bishop to sit in, it was given as a gift to the church by former Vicar Rev. Savage, upon his arrival in 1842. Rev. Savage served as Vicar for 3 years, leaving in 1845.

The chair is of lovely quality, all hand carved. It is still used on special occasions.

St. Editha's originally had two matching chairs, but a few years ago someone picked one up, walked out of church with it, and it's never been seen since! (If that was you, no hard feelings, but we would quite like it back :))

The Church throughout the world celebrates Trinity Sunday today - when we reflect upon the great mystery of God in relationship as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Christians have celebrated this festival for at least 700 years. You can enjoy the special day today at St. Editha's with a festival Eucharist at 10am and a celebratory Evensong at 6pm. Both services feature the magnificent St. Editha's Choir and the stunning grade-I listed Harrison organ!

Pictured: Rublev's icon of the Trinity, one of the world's most famous religious paintings, which beautifully depicts the relationship of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
