We regularly celebrate the achievements of our amazing group of Cadets on our social media but this week we wanted to celebrate something a little different.

As part of National Volunteers Week, we are celebrating our amazing Staff and Civilian Committee.

We are so lucky as a Squadron to have a team of 11 Staff and 9 Civilian Committee members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to give the Cadets the opportunities that you see on our page.

Today we celebrate three of the team who recently were nominated for awards by the Commanding Officer.

Flt Lt Terry, Plt Off Kenning and Treasurer Elgie were all awarded a Commandant Air Cadets award for the service they have each given to the Squadron and wider organisation.

OC2434 commented "The three members of the Team deserve this regognition, their help and support to me are vital in ensuring that we offer the best possible experience to all Cadets on the Squadron. I hope in a small way these certificates pass on my appreciation to you all for your commitment"

Pictured below are Flt Lt Terry, Plt Off Kenning and Treasurer Elgie receiving their awards from Cadets of the Squadron.

Recently, members of the squadron were proud to represent the unit at this year’s Sherburn Gala, taking part in a variety of activities throughout the day.

Throughout the event, other cadets interacted with members of the public, speaking about the opportunities available within the squadron and helping to promote the organisation in a positive and professional manner. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community and showcase the values and experiences that cadets gain through their involvement.

Following the gala celebrations, cadets were able to enjoy some well-earned time together on the fairground, making the most of the atmosphere and ending the day on a high. Overall, it was an enjoyable and successful event, and the squadron represented itself with pride, professionalism, and enthusiasm throughout.

Commandant Air CadetsThe band and small parade - including team 2434 and 110 (City of York) Sqn ATC cadets, did an amazing job representing the organisation at Sherburn Gala, performing brilliantly throughout the parade. Their hard work and dedication really showed, and they created a great atmosphere for everyone watching and taking part in the event.

Every member of the band presented themselves professionally and with pride, showing excellent teamwork, discipline, and confidence throughout the day. They should all be incredibly proud of how well they performed and the way they represented the squadron and organisation within the local community.

Putting the Air into Air Cadets!

Today while most of the Squadron were taking a well earned break for the bank holiday, three of our cadets were at RAF Topcliffe with 645 Volunteer Gliding Squadron to experience their first flight within RAFAC.

A huge thank you to the whole team at 645 who welcomed us with open arms and got the cadets stuck in with the whole process. A special mention to our very own, Cpl Horton who has recently started as a Flight Staff Cadet with 645.

A memory that will last forever with the Cadets and they are already looking forward to their next flight.

Go

A great day for 13 of our Cadets today at Central & East Yorkshire Wing RAFAC Inter Squadron Athletics competition. Not as big a team this year due to the Bank holiday and exams but we definitely punched above our weight.

The wet and gloomy conditions didn't dampen our spirits and all Cadets put 100% effort into the day walking away with 10 medals and 2nd place in the Under 16's girls category.
